their is no 1985 crv if its a CRX HO1220 Water Pump for 84-87 Honda Civic & CRX 1.3L 1.5L SOHC EV1 EW1

the timing marks for the cam go straight up the one on the crank goes to the 1 oclcok postion or put the pully on just slip it on and get it to point to 0 on the timing marker on the lower end next make sure the rotor is pointing to #1 and your set.

If you haven't had the distributor out then turn the cam so the rotor points to No.1. Then yiou should see some marks either lining up or close to it.
If you have had the distributor out, set the cam and then worry about the distributor.
Some engines have more than one possible location for the cam gear. I'm not 100% about Hondas so I can't comment either way. Sorry.

it depends if you have a sohc or dohc there are timing marks on the cam gear(s) that line up with the top of the head and the crankshaft pulley has timing marks to line up with the timing belt cover
