2006 montana sv6 remote starter causes alarm to go off

Hi, wondering what if anything i can do to fix my 2006 montana remote starter. When I try to start the car remotely, it simply makes the alarm go off. Any thoughts?

I havent gotten it yet. It seems that you need to reprogram the remote, but the procedures that I have found so far do not work with this vehicle...still up in the air! :)

I've fixed my problem with remote starter, but I think it will not help to other people. I"ve bought another FOB and compare with mine and figure out that one of diods on board is missed. I've soldered new diod to the place it has to be (even not surface mounting), and now my remote starter is working with out reprogramming of PCM.

I have the same problem. Did you figure it out? It happened for me after the battery went dead and I changed it... R

I had the same problem on my 2007 montana sv6, it was funny. Before following instructions in manual to start engine remotely, make sure that parking breaks is activated! (see message on dashboard display)

Sorry, for this post, it was incorrect, problem was in remote control (FOB keychane). One of 7 diods which form the signal to decoder was ripped out. After installation of another one (just any small size, even not surface mount), problem was solved.

2008 Pontiac Montana S6 Won't Start.

Sounds like the anti-theft/alarm system was triggered.
Have you tried locking and unlocking the driver door with the key to disable the alarm ?
And you need at least 12 volts to crank the engine so the battery may need to be charged up first.

2005 pontiac sv6 door alarm chimes all the time. how can I disable or bypass the chime?

On my '07 Montana SV6 was the same problem, I've fix it by moving up to 3 mm. contact plate at the body frame of the rihgt sliding door. If you check the spots on the plate where pins from the door comes to this plate, you will see that they contacting not in a middle. There are two ways to fix: move down pin unit in the door or move up contact plate on frame. For me second way was better. It's manufacture mistake comes sinse 2005 and on right door only.

Does my 2006 pontiac montana sv6 have a transmission cooler so I can haul a small trailer with 2 quads? Do I really need one?

Most vehicles have one or two means of cooling
trans fluid.
I wouldn't tow anything, without replacing whatever
factory cooler you have, out front of the condenser

You need more cooling capacity and in the summer
I would bypass the radiator cooler and use the surface
to air,you need to upgrade

Trys to rock frwd with foot on brake. What might cause this?

Hi, it sounds like you need to replace your rotors. They are the round disks that your brakes clamp onto. They are most likely warped. If I recall the montana sv6 has rotors on the front and back.

Have a pontiac montana, but lately when I press ths remote start button, the alarm goes off. Door locks work fine.

If its an aftermaket installation, do yourself a favor and have it removed. I have seen them disable a vehicle where they won't start. Sound like the controller is malfunctioning.
