My headlights on my 2000 monte carlo does not work

My headlights on my 2000 Monte Carlo do not work, My high beams work, day running lights work, Blinker and hazards work. Just not my low Beams. I checked the fuses and relays. Still not working

  • anthony_joaq Dec 07, 2009

I actually already replaced the low beams and still not working. I also checked the voltage on the socket of those lights because the High beams and low beams are seprate and the volts is only 1.5

Day time running lights run low voltage to the high beam bulbs so it sounds to me like you need two new bulbs or you need to check the fuses and see if any need replaceing.

  • Anonymous Dec 08, 2009

Next thing to check is the ground wires to the lights, the lives are there when the key is on ,but you only have low voltage to the lights so i would bet that the headlight switch is the problem if the fuses, relays and grounds check out o.k..

Have you check the low beam lights themselves? If so follow the wires from the lights to the fuse box thats under the hood..They usually break there or turn green from being wet..Get a test light and on the low beam wire positive side probe the wire and follow it to the fuse box and that should help you find the problem..Have A Great Day!!!

Good afternoon my peeps
Dis is waundon Carlo I had headlight problems jus recently. My passenger headlight along with the high beam. Man I thought this gnna b a 5 min fix. I changed the harness that didn't wrk so I bought a new bulb and It was still dim. I checked my dash and the sensor read high beam out very frustrating. To make a long story short something told me to check the fuse box under the hood and viola I found a 10 fuse that was blown and I spent about 30 bucks in accessories and all along It was a ten cent fuse.. I felt like ****.. But the problem is fixed so ALL U MC RYDER'S... CHECK ALL YA FUSES it will save some bucks trust me!.

Sounds strange but make sure your low beam bulbs are good [ they have an average life span- they may have both burnt out at the same time ]. This happened to me once in the 1980's with a VW rabbit.

2000 Chevy Monte Carlo has the highbeams stuck on

hello, you might be able to spray a little shot wd-40 in the switch itself, do not turn headlights on right away, let it set for few minutes, you can try to see if it will click to high beam and low. i have a 84 monte that did this, the switch gets dirt and stuff in it, starts sticking sometimes.

2000 monte carlo dim lights stopped working

First check the bulbs, If the bulbs are o.k. It might be the dimmer switch. I think on a 2000 monte the dimmer switch is built into the multi-function switch.

Head lights not working

Check your operators manual. When the daylight running lights are on you can't turn on your high beams. The car has two circuits. Remember to turn your main headlights on at dusk because your taillights are not on with your day running lights and someone can rear end you. You have to fully turn on your headlights in order to get access to your highbeams. Good luck!
