My car runs will go about 2 miles then slow down and have no response from gas pedal I will shutoff wait a couple of min then it will go again only to repete thanks sean I have replaced fuel filter and cleaned tank

Ford products had a recall because of run away ECM units
as to hard brake pedal , that is because there is no booster to assist the brake action
I suggest that you trailer it to a ford dealer ship and leave it there until it is fixed
call ford technical department and report the occurrence
there may be an explanation if you have the fault codes read

What about the coil packs? Do you have a check engine light on? If so take it to an auto parts store and see if they will scan your vehicle for the codes.

Do you have normal fuel pressure at the injectors ?

no need to pump the gas on fuel injected vehicles.
Make sure CPS was installed correctly.

Those are troubled cars and older ones are even more troubled with problems I would sell it and get anything but a pontiac and a dodge stay away warning! warning! You got high miles on that ? Its a money drain.

check both the battery and the alternator if batt. is old or shows weak replace it. it will mess with the computer readings on it

start procedure is to hold accelerator half down, turn key, wait for injector light to go out, then hold down clutch pedal and start. do not pump the gas. just hold it 1/2 down. when car starts, release gas and then rev it up until the alternator light goes out.

Its probably your computer. Had the same thing happen to me about ten years back. About 500 dollars. better off finding one on ebay or at a junk yard.

there is a part called cam sensor( helps comp. to tell when to fire plugs,also helps with timing). also check the throttle position sensor.
