the window regulator has probably broken or the gear has stripped inside the motor. pull the door trim off and see if the wire from the regulator is still conected and tight, if its loose then its probably broken and will need replacing, if it looks tight then try and pull the motor off the window reg and check the regulator drive gear. hope this helps. cheers.
You may be having problems with the motor drawing too many amps and kicking out a circuit breaker. If this is the case, you will have to replace the window motor.Check the window switch too.It can also be the cause of window not working. You can check both the window as well as switch with voltmeter or a test light to confirm which part is faulty. The window motor is a 12 volt electrical part.So check for the 12 volt to the motor connections. If the voltage is low then its faulty motor and has to be replaced.-------------Also in your question comment you have mentioned that driver side window motor not functioning. So in that case before going for new replacement motor,i suggest to connect the passenger side motor to driver side motor connections and check. If the window functions with passenger side motor connected then its a faulty driver-side motor, but if the window not working with passenger side motor connected , then its not the faulty motor but the faulty driver side window operating switch. It has to be replaced. But in some cases it has also seen that parts like motor as well as switch are ok but the problem relates to short in wiring or the wires getting loose between switch to regulator or switch to motor. So confirm this possibilities also before going for any kind of part replacements.---------------Keep updated with any more queries.Thanks.
Take it to an auto glass shop, the window has fallen out of the track attached to the regulator. If there is no whining motor sound the regulator may have died as well and you need to look around on ebay for a replacement, Since the driver door regulator usually dies first however, I would bet on the regulator being good, window just out of track. A glass shop can fix that for you in a few hours for less than a hundred bucks. If price is not a factor then a dealer can do it for you for about 500 bucks.
Remove the little door nob thingy for lock and unlock it just screws off,, Then you have 6 Allen key bolts around the door trim, remove those. Then remove the door handle cover just pops off you may need a small flat blade screw driver. you have two big screws Philips head screws in there... Then remove your speaker cover then the speaker, then remove the speaker, then remove the speaker bracket, then lift the door panel out. The motors and the regulators for your windows are **** door man makes a good unit for them i replace all 4 of mine... They are expensive Partsgeek.com is the best price i could fine. Looked for 2 years in junk yards and posted adds for replacement parts don't wast your time its damn near impossible. cost me about 500 for the 2 front window motors and regulators and I only replaced the regulators on the back windows I think they were about 50 a peace.
regulator usually wears out and breaks or gets bound and burns up motor, change them both if available. Good sign of bad regulator is sloppy window in track, or window off track. I always replace them together if they are available. it is possible that you just need a switch, but most likely the reg/motor.
first these are easy to do,second look on ebay a-1 auto I think sells replacement for around $100 U.S
Take door panel off, there are several bolts in reg and 2 keepers on the window glass unhook the 2 keepers unplug the motor and turn unit and bring out the bottom of the doorthe window glass does NOT have to come out. it should only take less than an hour to do.
Most likely the window regulator cables got tangled. That happened on 3 of my windows, but the motor should be fine they usually last quite a while. Electronics are good, but the mechanical part sucks. There are 2 cables one pulls the window up while the other cable winds onto a pulley. The pulley has channels in it that the cables sometime jump out of and get derailed. Replacing the window reg can cost 50 if you're lucky to 100 at Autozone or checker, that doesn't include labor. You can do it yourself, but it's a pain in the ****. Give yourself around 3 hours to do it because you will spend a while getting the window threshold or whatever the hell it is that seals it back into place. Use WD-40 to lube it so that it will slide onto the window. You'll know what I mean if you do it yourself. At the dealer plan on 300 to get it done.
Ok, I'm assuming you verified that in deed the motor is faulty. You will need to remove the door inner trim panel switches, entry lighting and inner door handle will need to be unplugged/removed there should be a inner weather seal also this seal is important if you would like to keep the inner trim panel from rotting away so carefully remove it. Attached to the window motor is the regulator. The window is directely connected to reg. by two fastening nuts 10 mm. window stops at top of door as well remove. I mark there location when removing this makes adjust alot easier and most times no adjustment needed if marking is right once window is out regulator and motor can be removed I strong suggest that if possible to move the reg. and window motor in full up position to remove motor this is because the reg. has a spring assit to help raising window glass and is under tension to be wary of this fact Three screws attach motor to regulator these screws will in most cases be tight sometimes requiring " Impact Driver Tool" this is a hand used with a ball peen hammer once screws are out reassembliy time If this is your frist time with this type of repair I suggest help of assitant window glass will need to be very carefully handled.. good luck
