This is normal, as long as the rpm's are not above 2000, this is to heat the engine to it's operating temperature quickly. Once the engine is warm, the rpm's will drop to 600-800RPM.

Testimonial: "My problem is that the engine dies if you take you foot off the gas until it warms up. Then it is OK"

The information I received was "Engine will not idle until warm. then it is just fine." With question such as these, it is impossible to troubleshoot WITHOUT DETAILS. It was to my assumption that the vehicle was turned on with a key, and it would run higher than idle on startup, then when the temp warmed up, the rpm's would drop. This IS normal, however not the problem as the owner has NOW added the details as he keeps his foot on the gas. I could have used that information in the first place.

This guy is stupid......It is not normal to keep your foot on the gas unti it warms up. My car does the same thing. It was just during cold weather.. last couple years it is any temp outside. I would also like a real answer not just "this is normal" ********.

1997 Lumina starts but has to revved until engine warms up. Idle is fine when the engine is up to operating temps.

The idle air control (IAC) may be sticky or defective and cannot move to allow in extra air for a proper cold engine idle speed.

2002 Jeep Liberty - 3.7 Liter - Engine has begun to die when rpm is at or near idle. Such as pulling into a parking place or stopped at traffic light. More frequent after engine has warmed. Once engine...

I would start with cleaning the throttle bore and plate. Then clean the Idle Air Control valve, IAC, as this is the device that controls idle speed. Use a can of spray carb cleaner and an old toothbrush. Trouble with the IAC would make sense if you can keep the engine going by holding down the gas pedal a bit.
Use the carb cleaner to check for vacuum leaks at hose connections and elbows. run engine and spray short bursts at hoses and listen for idle speed changes.
And lastly if problem is still there check MAP sensor.

I am haveing trouble with my 1996 Mazda B2300, When I start my truck after its been sitting for any length of timeI have to rev the engine to get it started, I have to continue reving until engine is warm...

Replace the temperature sending unit/sensor. This sensor tells the computer to put the engine into cold start mode and it then sets idle a bit higher and puts a bit more fuel into the engine to keep it running without having to touch the throttle. Once it's warm, sensor tells computer to go to normal run mode and it's done. No problem.

4 cyl Engine starts and idles ok...give it throttle and it dies

I need to get a clear mental picture of what exactly is happening.

With this said, you stated that the car "runs fine" until warmed up.

Q: When you start the car when cold it idles fine?
Q: If you allow the car to idle until "fully" warmed does the car stall?
Q: As the car begins to warm up, Does the RPM fluctuate abnormally?
Q: Does the car Only stall when you press on the gas pedal or does it stall just sitting and idling in addition to pressing the gas pedal?
Q: If you can drive it while cold does the car stall during acceleration when warm or only at Stop Signs / Lights?
Q: If you wait 20min or so, can you start the car again?
Q: How many miles are on the car?

Cold Start Idle Issue

Problem might be the air control valve, it's located at the right side rear of intake manifold and has a hose going to the air intake duct from the air cleaner, as a test you might try pinching off that hose when the idle is a problem.
