First off its not the throttel body you probley have a blown intake gasket 3.4 are known for it and thats the number one thing with an equinox
Could be a blown head gasket like you said, it is a popular problem. Chevy has a bulletin out, 02-06-04-015A, that states:
Some customers may comment on an intermittent no crank, no start condition.
Cause
This condition may be due to poor battery cable connections. Cross-threaded/stripped battery cable bolts inside the battery side post terminals may cause poor battery cable connections.
When my battery died after 4 years of use in my Equinox I saw what they meant by this problem. I went to take the bolt out of the battery and the nut that is part of the battery just came out while attached to the bolt and cable. It was a pain trying to seperate the bolt from the nut to get the cable disconnected because of all the corrosion around the nut and lead battery terminal. Since getting a new battery in the car I haven't had this similar starting problem any more. I have never experienced a blown head gasket, so if the car was running would you be able to tell if it is the head gasket? Would it sound loud or idle rough?

I have the same problem with my 2006 Equinox. Seems to happen more in the cold, but sometimes it can take 3-4 times before the car will turn over. I took mine to Chevy and was told it is a "computer" glitch and really nothing they could do about it. Apparently it is a common problem.
Sombody ripped you off i am fifteen and can tell you none of the auto zone **** is true exept the fuel injection or ignition misfire then again what does autozone know go to a chevy dealership and ask them shoot it might even be the carborater
