1991 honda accord will not charge alternator test good

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Have you had your battery tested as to whether or not it will take a charge? Autozone will do that without charge (they would, of course, like you to buy a battery from them if you need one).

1st check and make sure you have a good ground on the battery. Check the battery. Make sure it passes a load test. It is possible that the battery is not holding a charge. Make sure all alternator connections are connected.

Sometimes a bad alternator will still test good. It needs to warm up before it start failing. Happened to me once. Took it to autozone and had it tested but came back fine. Car left me. Took it out there was rattle to the starter, but it still tested good. It had a bad bearing. Luckily the guy from Autozone knew it was bad, so I got a new one and battery held a charge.

Two new batteries, won't hold charge

I would Check the Belt Tensioner. If the Belt Tensioner is Not Holding the Belt Tight Enough it will not allow the Alternator to Charge the Battery and will result in the Dead Batteries. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

Charging problem

Possible solution. It could be the belt tensioner. It might not hold the belt tight enough to have a consistent charge to the battery through the alternator. I had to replace the one on my 91 accord and that solved my problem.

Charging system problem

Check charging system and make sure that the alternator is charging efficently and get back to me, because its electrical alternator can be defective especially if its aftermarket.( should be at least 14 volts with car running at idle) Good Luck
