REMOVAL:
1) Remove the plastic belt routing diagram (there is a bolt underneath if I remember correctly)(yep, 8mm).

2) Using a 3/8 breaker bar or a ratchet, insert into the belt tensioner and push toward the back of the engine enough to release tension on the belt with one hand, and with the other hand, remove the belt from the water pump pulley. Then remove the bar/ratchet from the tensioner.

3) Remove the 4 bolts holding the shiny pulley onto the water pump (11mm). Large catch pan underneath, there's more coolant in there than it looks like.

4) With a ratchet and possibly a short extension, carefully remove the 5 bolts that hold the water pump onto the block (8mm).

5) Pry the water pump away from the block and clean both surfaces so they are free of gasket material.

INSTALL:
1) Line up the gasket and *carefully* fit the new water pump onto the block. The holes are very easy to line up wrong because they are almost, but not quite, equally spaced from each other, so be VERY careful you have all 5 holes lined up right.

2) Screw each bolt in a few tuns to make sure they all go in smoothly. If you get any resistance (it will feel like it's cross threaded), you have the holes wrong, and you need to rotate the water pump so the holes are lined up right. I can't stress this enough.

3) Torque all the bolts down (I can't recall the exact in/lbs - sorry) in a star pattern.

4) Mount the pulley onto the water pump shaft, torque bolts down (an air ratchet helps greatly here as the shaft will try to spin when the bolts start getting tight).

5) Release the tension as explained in step 2 at the top, put the belt back on the water pump pulley & double check to make sure it's on all the other pulleys while you're at it.

6) Bolt the plastic bolt routing diagram back onto the head.

7) Refill the reservoir and bleed the system of air.

That's it! It's an hour or so job if you've never done it before.
Note, if you're not using a gasket, get some water pump gasket sealer and make a gasket around the entire diameter of the mounting surface of the water pump. Remember to make little circles around the bolt holes also.

Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to answer any other questions you may have.

Ok you will see a pulley with NO GROVES with FOUR 10mm bolts
that's the water pump
remove that pulley
then there are FIVE 8mm bolts holding the water pump to front cover
remove the 5 water pump bolts
then use a screwdriver and hammer and tap the pump to seperate the pump from the cover
clean the old gasket off and reassemble
hope this helps

Ac drain is blocked cannot locate the drain 1997

The drain is just a small hose coming out of the firewall, right hand side, about 2 -3 inches long, they get clogged up with mud, bugs, you name it, and when the clog up, it's like Niagra falls in there. Check it out.

Fuel Filter for a 2005 Subaru Outback

In 2005 Subaru moved the fuel filters to the fuel tank for both 4-cyl and 6-cyl cars. What is confusing is the statement in the owner's manual about replacement intervals; the statement actually only applies to 4-cyl cars. Even though the filter is mounted in the tank, this is still a replaceable element on 4-cyl, but not on 6-cyl. The 6-cyl filter element is part of the entire fuel pump assembly (a $300 assembly) and is not sold separately. Therefore the 6-cyl filter is intended to be a "lifetime" part, which really means it gets replaced when the fuel pump fails and the entire pump assembly is replaced.

Follow the intake tube from the air box to the throttle body. It is mounted on the throttle body, on the opposite side of the throttle cable.

If you have the 4 cyl, look in upper engine area, end of valve cover, mounted in front side of water outlet.
If it's the 6 cyl, Passenger side upper engine area, below alternator, mounted in intake manifold.

Location of a secondary air pump on a 2002 chevy venture

The A.I.R pump is located on the driver's side of the vehicle, just in front of the front tire. If you remove the tire & look at the inner fender well, you'll see that it's designed with a "trap door". Remove the screws that hold the door closed, then fold the door back to reveal the pump. What usually happens is the pump sucks in the sponge filter on the intake side & it lodges in the impeller blade...this causes the fuse to blow & eventually a code will set & the Service Engine Light will come on. The fuse is located under the hood in the black fuse box on the passenger side...the box should be clearly visible & easily accessable. Look for a 30A fuse, probably in location # 39.
