Hi

The catalytic converter is an integral part of your exhaust system - see image below of a typical Fiesta Catalytic converter. There is a variation in the location and design of the converter depending on which engine version you have. I should point out that this is not an easy job for a novice as the exhaust is often solidly rusted at the connecting points and the old converter will require specialist equipment to remove the old connecting bolts.

Also your car will need to go up on a garage lift for this work to be done.

My advise is to bring the car to an exhaust centre to have this work carried out as it is likely to present with a high level of difficulty. See image for reference to what the part looks like.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.

How many 02 Sensors do my 2000 Nissan maxima have and where are they located because someone told me that I have 4 of them and the back two is not directly inside of my Catalytic converter converter...

How many sensors will depend on the type of engine fitted to you vehicle. Is it an 'in-line' engine or a V type engine. An in-line engine usually has 2 fitted and a V6 (or V8) engine will have 4 fitted.
The positioning is usually 2 for each exhaust fitted. They will be fitted before and after the catalytic converter (the Cat).
The first will be fitted into either the exhaust manifold or the first down pipe section of the exhaust in the engine bay. The second one will be underneath the vehicle just after the first bulge in the exhaust pipe.
The attached photo is only to give you an idea of what the sensor looks like.

I have a 2006 Tundra 4x4 with a 4.8 v8.Test revealed a faulty downstream o2 issue.bought a Denso 234-4260 Oxygen sensor. I can't locate it under the truck. Is there a diagram? Are there one or two?

It could depend on what exhaust system is fitted. The general rule is that there should be an O2 sensor fitted before (upstream) of the catalytic converter AND one fitted after (downstream) of the catalytic converter. This applies to ALL the catalytic converters fitted to the vehicle. V8's often run two exhausts, one each side.
Get 'safely' under the vehicle and find the exhaust where it turns down and under the vehicle. Look up into the engine bay and find the fat bulge in the pipe, the catalytic converter. The upstream sensor is up high, often in the exhaust manifold. Your downstream sensor will be nearest to you, after the bulge. If you have a twin exhaust system you'll also need to know which side it is on, it will listed as either Bank One or Bank Two.
Please comment if you need more help.

Where is the o2 sensor located

The oxygen sensor - the lambda is situated on the catalytic converter, which is below the driver seat on a right hand drive car. It has a slight angle to it where it fits into the cat.
