The booster just has to be replaced but they dont go bad to much are you sure thats the problem? What is your truck doing may be something else. Brake boosters are very costly..

you may be having problems with the vacuum booster, have it checked
The brakes grab real hard upon initial foot pressure and then it seems to have a little slack place before you press hard enought to really stop the truck. I know this is a weird discription but its the best I can come to the problem.
sounds like a pressure problem, possibly abs or porportioning valve. Unless the booster is leaking, generally there is nothing that happens to them that influences only front or rear braking...all would be affected evenly. GM has had big problems with abs on trucks for as long as I remember. Personally ABS isn't worth the aggravation it causes and people should just learn to drive rather than depending upon "automatic" anything. But, you have it and should get a competent shop to do diagnosis and repair. Being safe is more important than anything else!!!
