Check your brake fluid first and make sure its full, and if it is full your brakes are most likely worn low and need replaced.

Why does the ignition light on my 2001 jeep Cherokee 3.7 auto stay on

Which ignition light? There are a number of warning lights on the instrument panel.
It could be the charge indicator, which could mean a bad alternator. Does the battery run down? Check voltage on the battery. If more than 13.8 volts while the engine is running, alternator is OK. Less than that, overhaul the alternator.
It could be the MIL (maintenance Indicator lamp / engine check light) which means the car is due for a service. The light can be turned off by a mechanic, or you could get a DTC reader on ebay and turn it off yourself if you're happy the service is up to date.
It could be the brake indicator light, which could mean either the handbrake is not fully released, or the brake fluid level is low, or the brake pads are worn down. Just some possibilities, give more information.

Flashing battery light and brake light

Are you referring to warning lights on the dash board? The flashing battery light may mean you have a charging problem and the flashing brake light may mean you need break fluid or have an other brake issue. Take it to a service station or the dealer. Or read the owners manual.

1988 bmw 325is has brake lining and antilock brake light on also my inspection light is yellow i was told these were new brakes done himself

Generally the brake lining and ABS lights operate independently. Brake linings light will illuminate when there is a circuit to earth through the sensor leads. This is either worn out brakes or a faulty sensor but you'll need to get the wheels off to see.
The ABS light will require a fault code read to work out what the fault is.
Yellow inspection light means it needs a service. This needs to be reset at the time of service using a reset tool on your model.
Good luck
