Hi from uk the part you mention is the brake stop light switch it has a plug on 2xwire plug it operates by as pedal is pressed the plunger of switch moves out and connects the 2xwire circuit and so brake lights operate this switch simply unscrews from the pedal box/carriage after plug removed then the new switch screwed in place and with b/pedal off the switch is screwed to a point that if you press pedal down approx 1/2 " the switch plunger moves out and b/lights come on this is trial/error untill you are happy with the pedal movement down till lights operate SIMPLE ! hope this helps?

Hyundai accent 2004 shifter is locked and brake lights do not work

Automatic transmission, right? Likely cause is the brake pedal switch located on the brake pedal arm near the firewall. This switch controls an interlock solenoid, a safety feature, that will not allow the shifter to move unless the brake pedal is depressed. Another possibility is the brake relay located on the under-hood fuse panel. Good luck.

None of the brake lights on my daughters 2010 Hyundai Accent, come on when she steps on the brake pedal. why?

You listed this vehicle as a 2006 Accent, yet you write it's a 2010.

If 2006, it's probably the brake lamp switch. However, I've seen all three brake light bulbs burn out within days of each other.

If 2010, it's still under warranty.

Need to replace both brake lights

Hi, The 2007 Hyundai Accent is under a recall for the brake light switch since it has a tendency to fail. The brake light switch is high up on the brake pedal and it has a plunger on it. The plunger releases when you step on the brake pedal and retracts when you release the pedal. Recall Information can be found at: http://www.internetautoguide.com/10-12-2007-33-267/2007-hyundai-accent-recalls.html

Please remember to rate this solution. Thanks and Good Luck!

2007 Accent GS 5 sp Both brake lights suddenly stopped working...bulbs and fuses are OK

check for bad brakelight switch on the brake pedal under the dash, but on the brake pedal rod, will be a switch that has a pluger that pops out when you apply the brakes, check to see if it's plugged in. other than that, just replace the entire switch, yhey do go bad often enough.

My brake lights do not come on when i hit the brakes

If bulbs are ok it will be the brake light switch, or possibly the wires to the switch that have been knocked off with your foot. Push the drivers seat right back and get your head down under the dash. There may be a small panel that requires removal so that you can see up to the switch. Its directly in line with the brake pedal and has two wires going to it. Remove the connector and link the wires with a bridge wire. Switch ignition on and check lights. If they are on replace the switch or adjust so that the centre pin that comes out against the brake pedal is further away but is being pressed when the pedal is released.
