2004 toyota land cruiser air bag light is on about five weeks ago my wife ran into a stop sign at about 3 mph and yesterday five weeks later the airbag light came on. Is it possible that this incidence caused the light to come on or is this just a coincidence? Is there a way to clear this or will I have to bring the car to a toyota dealer?
You may have upset the sensor on the chassis rail which has set off the light,it can take a while to set off ,the damage is minimal and the sensor is slow to crack internally or fail, you can try to disconnect the battery for 1 hour or so but no guarantees on that but even so it can work ,if the light comes back on you may need to see a dealer ,check at the front of the rails under hood for damage of any kind
Likely a coincedence. unhook the battery for about 15 minutes to reset the code that causes the light to come on. hook it back up and it should be fine. if the radio in your vehicle is of the anti theft variety make sure you know the code and how to enter it before you unhook the battery. this should reset it. if the light comes back on you should have it checked. also if you are in the states you can drop by an autozone and they will scan the codes for free and let you know what is wrong. do this before you unhook the battery or if you do this and the code (light) comes back on after the reset.
