2001 silverado- I am trying to install factory fog lights in my truck and i installed the button, bought the relay, and installed the lights. I got the wires for the fog lights from the junkyard but am not sure where to put the purple wires in the fuse box. I know from a schematic that the purple wires are supposed to be in the bottom right corner of the relay but I can't find the right spot under the fuse box. Any advice?

GM installs wiring harnesses and fuse blocks configured according to the original options for the vehicle. While the fuse block may have a spot for the relay, that doesn't mean the wiring is installed under the block for it, and that presents a problem as contacts in the block are pressed in and wired for specific options, and may be missing for this option in your truck. Even though you may have the fog light wires to connect to the relay and there is a place for the relay in the fuse block, there may not be the necessary relay socket connectors installed and they are almost impossible to retrofit (although you can try if the fog light wires you have also have the correct connector on the ends).

You can check if all necessary relay socket connectors are installed, and if so, you could try to figure out which wire is installed for the connection you are trying to make, and connect the purple wires to that wire. Otherwise, you may have to install the relay away from the block, and then make the necessary wiring connections (power, ground and output) to it.

SOURCE: Right side trailer brake light does not work

Did yo check the fuse panel inside the truck its located on the drivers side dash , you have to open the driver side door, in there is a 10 amp fuse that is linked to rt trailer brakes and rt turn signal for the trailer, if the fuse is good there is a black box under the dash located on the floor on the driver side, just to the left of the break, thats where must of the plug in wire harness is for the trailer breaks!

There is a good chance that the electro magnetic compressor clutch is bad and will need to be replaced. The compressor is good, but the clutch system has a short in it at the compressor's clutch, which is causing your fuse to blow.
Test the connection at the clutch for a short if you have a multi meter. If it shows you have a short, then replace the electro magnetic clutch solenoid.
Thank you for using fixya and be safe.

I just bought a 2009 dodge ram without fog lights i bought a bumper with fog light an switch them out but i need to know how to connect the lights to the factory switch inside what do i need to do

If your PU didn't come with factory installed fog lights then you will need to replace your headlight switch with a fog light enabled headlight switch.

Here is a link to the factory dealer-installed instructions.....

http://www.mopardodge.com/accessories/Instructions/82208102AC_IFU.pdf

You only need to get the components you don't already have. The headlight switch that is fog enabled will pull out for fog light operation, if yous doesn't you need to replace the switch and do some wiring as shown in the pdf file linked above.

Hope this helps!

You will also have to use a heavy duty switch u will burn up factory switch if dont use a realy

Fog lights not turning on

Sounds good to me except, the switch light shout be on the relay primary circiut and light off until you turn it on. When you turn the switch on, it lights up and energizes the relay, the relay closes and completes the secondary circiut for ythe fog lights. VIOLA' I have a silverado. done deal thanks

Wiring of fog lights on 95 Mustang

If you bought the fog lights from Ford and they plugged into factory plugs at the front bumper, then I suspect you need the headlight switch that came optional for your car. You will need to install a relay into the fuse box. Check for any fuses for that circuit. I did one on a Ford f-150 and the switch came with the lights from Ford.Usually the fog lights are not on until you push a button or turn the switch.

2001 Ford explorer sport fog lamps are not working. I just bought 2 brand new ones and they worked for two days then both went out at the same time. Also the button on the interior does not illuminate...

The light on your interior button should only come on when the lights are on, so I wouldn't worry about that until the lights are fixed. There should be a relay for your fog lights. I would check your underhood fuse relay box. switch that relay with another, such as fuel pump. I lights come on and now vehicle won't start, you know that it is the relay you have now put in your fuel pump circuit from your fog lamp circuit.
