You need a timing light and you have to take the cover off the electrical junction on the passanger side of the firewall once the cover is off you can disconnect the timing advance wire theres onle two wires you can disconnect so you cant mess it up the other one has a fuse in it for the lamp under the hood. then under the distributer theres a 9/16 bolt that holds a clamp on the distributer to keep it in place loosen it up just enough so you can turn the distributer but it still stays in place. then take some clalk of a yellow or white crayon from your kids and look at the crank shaft there will be a notch in it use the chalk to highlight it. then hook up the timing light pos-pos neg-neg and the clamp on the no 1 cylinders plug wire the the no 1 cylinder is the closest cylinder to the radiator on the drivers side. then fire it up and hit the button on the light you will see it light up as that cylinder fires and that notch should line up with the timing tab on the front of the block to adjust the timing just rotate the distributer until the notch lines up with the tab. let me know if that helped.

There were two designs that year.
First design with M11 bolts:
1) Tighten to 22 Ft/lbs in sequence
2) turn 90 degrees in sequence
3) turn another 90 degrees in sequence
4) turn 50 degrees in sequence

Second design with M11 and M8 bolts
1) tighten all M11 to 22 ft/lbs in sequence
2) turn all M11 90 degrees in sequence
3) turn all M11 70 degrees in sequence
4) tighten M8 bolts to 22 ft/lbs in sequence

1995 chevrolet tahoe

set the timing to 12 degrees advanced as it is too far retarded for speed. check for side play in the distributor shaft as it will cause missing by altering the setting of the points / ignition module clearance. Separate the ht leads with the ht spacer bars ( available from speed / spares shops.as they will cross jump and cause a miss.

1992 Chevrolet Tahoe timing

timing on the chevy motors do not very much.
most of the older 350's timing are set about 8 deg before top dead center. some california smog certified 350 timing were set back to 0 deg or, at top dead center. check under the hood for a smog decal. it should have the timing specs, or it might say "timing not adjustable" or N/A. if it is missing the decal i would set it at 8 deg, road drive it, and listen for enging pinging on accelerating under load. if no ping i would leave it at 8 deg,if there is slight pinging i would ****** the timing in 2 deg increments until the pining stops. i would stop if i reach reach 0 deg or top dead center.

1995 Chevy Tahoe 5.7L V8: thermostat temperature/running temp?

Depends on what thermostat you put in. Stock is a 190*. Which will usally run about 200-210. That's where most all small blocks are happy.
