How to replace a fuel pump on a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue .
My car is spewing out gas near the rear wheel when I start it. I assume it is the fuel line or pump. I thought I'd check online for a manual or picture of the where the fuel pump is before I started into the problem.
I'm going to start looking now but any bits of information would be appreciated.
It sounds like a fuel line broke, most likely because it rusted through. The fuel pump is running otherwise you wouldnt see any fuel spewing out from under the car. Get under the car and see where the line broke. In most cases, you can replace the broken section of line and it will be fine.
To answer your question though, to replace the fuel pump, you will need to remove the fuel tank from the car, as the pump is attached to the sending unit inside the tank. To remove the tank, you will need to disconnect the fuel filler neck, the fuel lines, and unplug the electrical connector, then get a jack under the tank and remove the straps holding the tank in the car. Lower the jack and you will be able to access the top of the tank where the sending unit is located. Romove the lock ring holding it in, and remove it from the tank.
