How do you set the ignation timming? - 2002 Kia Rio

It's not going to start without receiving the right code from the chipped keys. You've only swapped out half the anti-theft system. The rest is in the software. No way to get past that. Fix it right or you'll be walkin'

Change the ignition switch then

the Kia does not have a distributor, let alone a distributor cap, the engine is equiped with a ignation coil at each cylinder, there is a crankshaft and camshaft sensor that send signels to the onboard computer system then the computer sends the signals to the ignation ignator it then sends the signals to the coils at each cylinder. a much better system then a distributor.

it is a long test for this circuit and you will need a DVOM and a Scanner to run the test.

but basicly there are only 4 things that can set the code the ignation coils, the PCM, or the condensor, or the wiring betwine any of these componets, i recomend you take this one to a good shop, with out the test equipment it is only a guess as to what to replace, the most commmon thing would be the coils but it would be just a guess as to which one, it is not a sign of weakness to know when its time to get so help.

first you need to understand that your engine does not have valve covers. if you remove the ignation coil pack cover you will see to very thin covers this are not valve covers they are camshaft covers and if you unbolt them you will be removing the camshaft towers and this is not a good thing, do not unbolt them unless you are planing on replacing the timming chain because you will need to remove it to remove this covers, if you have an oil leak at the top of the engine it is most likely not the canshaft towers but is the oil sinding unit it is located under the coil cover at the back of the cylinder head....good luck

turn ignation on engine off

fully depress accelerator to the floor 3 times in 10 seconds

turn ignation switch off

have seen this before,these vehicles have a history with fuel pump relays failing,also idle air valves getting carboned up (dirty inside) and idle air is restricted and engine dies,and ck map sensor vacuum tubing for cracks.good luck

throttle adj has any one moved timming,plug gap?
