My 2002 Chevy Malibu is overheating. I found that the water pump was leaking and replaced it. It still overheats so I replaced the thermostat and it still overheats. It runs hot at slow speeds but doesn't overheat. As soon as I get on the highway the heat gauge just keeps rising till it overheats. Is there anything else I should look for?
If your car is equipped with a 3.1 or a 3.4 litre V6 and you have preformed all of the above listed work then I would have to say its the intake manifold gaskets. They commonly blow on these motors. Just a design flaw, nothing but replacing them when they leak can fix this. Also run a coolant pressure test on the system to check for minor things like a leak that you cant see from visual inspection. Hope this helps.

I would have the rad checked. Also check for blockage, this can be done with a good flush. If the rad looks good, and everything else looks good. might just be the fins on the rad bend in and prevent air from going thru. Check that also.

I still have a problem with my 2002 chevy malibu 3.1 liter. I have got the gaskets replaced and the car was going gang busters. then my car started over heating again. When the heater works and I feel hot air the car does not over heat when I turn on the AC the car thermostat shoots up! I took the car back to the shop and the guys their told me they are going to have to pull the dashboard. The problem is on the other side of the fire wall. Maybe electrical?
