The clutch fluid maybe low or you may have a bad clutch slave or master cylinder

You could have blown a hydraulic line check your hoses then replace fluid and bleed clutch

Ford Ranger PX clutch pedal falls to the floor when towing then returns to normal after a couple of days when not towing.


One of two things is wrong with your truck. Either the hydraulic clutch has a worn component that needs to be replaced or the clutch is slipping and needs to be replaced. If this failure only occurs while towing. I suspect the clutch is slipping, heat from the pressure plate is heating the fluid inside the hydraulic clutch and causing it to drop to the floor. Some diagnostics is needed to confirm.

98 golf clutch pedal went to the floor. Car would not engage any gear. Fixed cable so pedal now feels good but still won't engage I can move gear lever any where, release pedal but nothing happens.


What do you mean when you say you fixed the cable. It sounds like the cable broke and you replaced it. Is that correct. If so, did you adjust the free play in the clutch pedal to the manufacturers specification. If you have not done this correctly the clutch will either not disengage, or no engage properly. From your description it appears as though there is n free play and hence the clutch is staying disengaged even when you release the clutch pedal. If this is the case, then try lengthening the cable until the clutch pedal moves with say 25 mm of free movement before anything happens, and try again.

New clutch installed. No pedal, stays on floor unless I bring it back up with my hand. No resistance.


`Did it bleed, did fluid come out in a steady stream? Isn't there a spring to bring the pedal off the floor?
Check the linkage of the pedal to rod to the clutch master cylinder, make sure that is all together. Any chance the master has an internal leak and won't build hydraulic pressure down at the slave? If you get it bled, then watch the slave operation while someone works the clutch pedal. The piston on the slave should extend and push the clutch fork enough to disengage the clutch.

I hauled a trailer about 40 miles and when I went to leave the clutch pedal went to the floor no resistance and wouldn't disengage clutch master cylinder has fluid throwout bearing has been making noi


It sounds like the throw out bearing separated. You will want to change the clutch and pressure plate when you replace the throw out bearing.

Clutch would not disengage


IF you have bled the clutch system and managed to get a firm clutch then the clutch plate has been installed back to front and the clutch center is hitting the bolts that hold flywheel onto the crankshaft. If you have no not got a firm predal pressure replace the clutch master cyl

Intermittent clutch failure


Either there is low clutch fluid or air in the system. Or the clutch slave cylinder is leaking within itself.

After changing transmission and clutch in 91 Wrangler, clutch goes to floor. Tried bleeding line but didn't work.


The clutch should go to the floor =) But if it's not disengaging the clutch disk, there's definitely a problem between the pedal and the clutch disk. I'm guessing you have a hydraulic clutch?

Check your pedal height, make sure it is set to specifications. It has to be a certain distance from the floor, if not it will not disengage the clutch.
