1996 merc grand marquis Coil conversion

1996 merc grand marquis. wondering if i can use springs off of fords crown vic's? i hate the check air suspension light and buzzer... my merc is LOW riding and i want to convert to coils. I was told i can use from 92-98 because the merc's and the vic's have the same chassis. Thanks

Check out " strutmasters.com " They have what you are looking for. They are on the east coast and have the spring kit. The car will ride just as well and never have a suspension problem again. Trust me on this.

My 1996 grand Marquis needs front and rear right-side doors. What other years will fit with no modification? Is this the case with crown Vic's as well?

Don't know, wish I did, as I am always trying to find comparable year parts. However, what I do is call the local wrecking yards and ask them on the phone. They have it on their computers.

Good luck! :)

1996 mercury rear air suspension needs repair Mercury said the bladders were dry rotted and the suspension needed to be replaced for the fee of $1000, goodyear quoted $798. They said the parts were $550....

Check with Autozone and Oreillys for pricing on the bladders. It is also possible to get Salvage parts from either another Marquis or Crown Vic. The $248 labor charge does not seem too high. You could check around and ask how many hours it takes and the hourly rate.

There are some businesses that recondition the bladders, but that is already admitting what they have went flat some time ago.

I had air bladders on a 1994 Crown Vic with 161,000miles and my 2002 Marquis has 47,000 miles on the original rear bladders. So it does not seem to matter the age or miles but the climate the car is operated in.

Air suspension is not working

It just happened to me. I took it to a spring shop and had the air bags replaced with coil springs. It is an identical fit from a Crown Vic and only cost $200.00 total! Too much can go wrong with other parts of the air suspension. The ride is the same.

Turn signal don't work or the flashers?

If you still have flasher problems, I read on Google to spray WD-40 down in and around the hazzard flasher button, then press it up and down several times...and BINGO...all flashers and signals worked again....just had some dirt and dust in the wiring....
