Overheated, now won't start

I would pull the plugs and check them for the presence of water beads. Any time an engine overheats severely, there is a good chance of having a blown head gasket and if this happens, when cooling, coolant can be sucked past the breach into one or more cylinders.

Timing settings

you should have timing marks that are lined up on your engine. You have your crank to line up at a certain point as well as the two cams. I don't know off the top of my head where these might be for this car but you can find it in a Haynes or Chilton manual if you so desire to also learn more about your overall car and take care of this or i can find these specs and send them your way. Up to you?

Timing settings

you may have forgotten to plug the fan sender unit in on the right side of the head if it is plugged in it may of failed witch is not uncommon.
as for the timing there is actually some small marks on the head it self and on the cam pulleys, also on the crank sprocket and the block if you cant find them i can send you a diagram.
if you can find the sender unit on the side of the head unplug it and earth out the plug with a split pin if the fans come on bingo get a new sender
good luck

Fuel consumption

This has to be done by a good mechanic. Either you used a heavy viscosity engine oil, not appropiate for full injections, and know you must have a darnish-brown rock pasted in the twin cam heading or a built up in the oil suctioner pan at the crankcase. Clean everything and you will be surprised on results.
