My friend installed a new clutch in my 1995 Ford Escort Wagon 1.9 litre and removed the shift lever bushings (thats what he called them). My shift lever is all over the place. Where can I get these bushings?

check your shift linkage underneath the car. your bushing are probably worn out or broken off at each linkage connection. this could cause misalignment of levers(linkage).
are you sure the clutch is bad or is it a hydraulic issue dose the pedal fall to floor after a while stoped or does it slip whil under a load you need to remove tranaxel to replace clutch preasure plate and throw out bearing as well as resurface flywheel check rear main seal andpossibly replace pilot bearing or bushing if it is hydraulic trans axle can stay in and just change slave cyl and or clutch master cyl
their is a forlk conected to the pedal that when you push the clutch the forlk pulls back and allows you to shift between the gears. when the car is off the forlk is in a nutral state but inguages when the engine starts
It sounds like the shift linkage is badly worn where the gear lever is supported on the shaft. Somtimes there is a plastic bush which ends up wearing out and disintegrating causing the slop you have described. You will need to remove the gear lever assembly from the vehicle to work on it. You should be able to get a replacement bush to repair it.
has it been gradually getting worse or just all of a sudden? Also, do you see any liquid at the bellhousing of the trans? If so, you have leaking slave cylinder.
