I have a 1999 GMC Safari. Van will drive fine for about 30minutes, then it seems like the gas pedal becomes non responsive. Will be driving along anywhere from 20-60mphs and when it seems we let off the gas pedal to coast a little bit the gas pedal no longer responds. Will put the pedal to the floor and i get no engine rev up or any response. Usually we will hear a small clunk and then the engine and pedal will start responding again. But occasionally the van will stay non responsive and Stall out. Then i will need to pull over and then the Van starts right up just fine and i can drive on until it happens again. Any ideas? I have replaced the Idler Control Valve and Crank Shaft Sensor recently and muffler.
See when you say you step on it, and the vehicle stalls, it sounds as if it bein starved of fuel...you step on it, and therefore the demand is there, but not the supply. to prevent itself from over heating, the fuel pump shuts off...after a moment of cooling off, it fires right back up...get it checked at your mechanic...do the strainer on the bottom of the pump, and fuel filter as well...is it time for a tune up yet?
