This is a specialised job requiring special tools .this spring can KILL if released without knowledge but replacing the two units complete with two from the scrapyard is easy .three bolts on top and two bolts normally on the lower fitting but repeat do not attempt to seperate the spring ,take the strut to a local garage to have the springs changed to the new shockers
Auto zones computer **** not trying to be rude but Im not to fond of there $99 diag tool. Anyways have you tried the dealer, to see if maybe your light may just be a computer glitch or doubtly a maint. light going on and off. Its to bad its not reading it as a hard code. but you could go buy a repaire book and see if it can tell you how to use the OBD II to make the codes flash when the light is on. just a thought for you.
Just a guess, but I would say this truck ran low on oil at one time. The result is the crank bearings took a beating. You may get away with just replacing the bearings and a rear seal. This engine is amost 'bullet-proof''! Frankster016
Thank you for your follow up. I fixed my problem by finding a hard working mechanic, not a dealership. When I got 3 estimates on replacing the PCV and the Fuel Filter on my 2003 Nissan, there was a $59 difference between the high and low bid. Obviously took the low. Thanks again! Postit2
