Transmission is not shifting properly on my 2000 nissan frontier 2wd pick up, auto It revs at 3-4000 rpm instead of a nice consitent 2000rpm, revs real high and doesnt change gears intill 20 mph, it doesnt skip gears at all, but it just doesnt shift at the right time. also doesnt really go over 50 mph unless I want the rpms to rev at 4000- 5000 or more

You could have a bad valvebody in your transmission or a bad pump in your transmission or your clutches are bad. In any case you have a bad transmission. Please rate my answer.

Either transmission oil pump is on its way out or reverse circuit is clogged , reverse shift solenoid is defective TCM may be defective , transmission range sensor begining to fail or manual shift valve and pressure regulator are defective.
Suggest taking the vehicle to a transmission repair shop they will diagnosis it and repair it.
Acutally there is 3 position settings for the transmission selector, the power setting which changes the shift points higher ,more rpm's, center position basic auto selection the transmission selects the best driving gears based on your habits, and the comfort mode which shifts the transmission easily and smoothly, no high rev shifts, best for good fuel mileage, but if you need to get on it it will go.
