Trans failure in prog show on dash in my 2000 740il would not change out of 4th gear cut off car and let it sit, started back up trans works ok. two day later same problem .

try changing trans fluid and adding lucas trans additive it helped me

My 1994 BMW 525i e34 came up with the Trans Program warning. Accelerator would not rev the engine!

sounds as if the accelerater cable broke, when you were able to throttle under the hood did you happen to notice if the accelerater cable was moving freely.

Hello, Do you know what can of ATF I put in my 1991 bmw 525i Automatic Trans ..... it has the manumatic type of system with the A and M switch

it would be best to purchase trans fluid from the dealer!! despite the price ? i put synthetic trans fluid in my nissan truck and had to replace the trans instead of changing the fluid back to nissan hindsight not all trans are the same nor do they take the fluid

I got a 1992 bmw 525i it only drive in 1frst gear

I am assuming your vehicle is an automatic

if so...can you get the vehicle to shift manually?

when was the last time the trans was flushed?

if you do not know, do this first before seeking assistance from a trans shop

Where is the transmission dip stick located for the 2002 525i bmw? makes a noise when car is in gear drive or reverse, but not in park or neutral

it is a sealed trans. you will have to bring it to BMW to have them take a look.... they dont put a dip stick on that car and many other's so you can't do anything except bring it to them to have it worked on... sorry for the bad news.... hope this helps you

91 BMW 5251 -A4S310R- auto trans - after engine

my bmw did a similar thing had the shift solenoids replaced never had a problem since as for supply i am in australia so could not advise you i assume you are in the US

I bet the problem can be corrected by installing a new or repaired Transmission computer

My car starts fine. Goes into reverse drive but starts off in 3rd so if anyone knows whats going on here let me no my e-mail is [email protected] also my dash displays break light circuit.

My friend owns a 1995 BMW 540i and he had the same problem, he wound up going to BMW and having them re program his Transmission, essentially there is a glitch in the computer.
