2003 Subaru Forester Logo

Two days after taking my 2003 Forester in for a new radiator, the tail lights and parking lights started staying on when the car was turned off and the switch for the lights was turned off. I found the 20amp fuse for them and removed it, but have to plug it back in when it gets dark. Is the problem a relay? The mechanic who replaced the radiator said he doesn't feel it could be anything he did.

Did you check the switch on top of the steering column? It will turn on your parking lamps separately from the headlamp switch, and it is in the customary position for a hazard flasher switch on Japanese cars - maybe someone bumped it by accident or turned it on when trying to get the 4-way flashers to work.

Testimonial: "That was it, I don't know how that was switched on. It is strange they stay on when the key is off and not in the ignition!"

2008 Subaru Forester. The parking lights and rear tail lights stay on after I turn off the key?

Faulty switch, or you have a Body control Module communication issue. You need an auto-electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to check live data and communication between all the systems.

Or it is the Parking Light secret switch!!

Park lights stay on

momentarily turn the switch clockwise when it in the auto position and it should turn the lights on or off, if not you may have a bad switch relay located in the power distribution box under the hood.

I own a 1997 chevy lumina, when I turn the car off the park lights and tail lights stay on, as well as the beeping alarm in the car, the only way to get the lights off is to disconnect the battery, it has...

it has command start ???? Is this some kind of aftermarket add on ? This shouldn't have anything to do with the running lamps . unless someone hooked something up in correctly . Does the car have DRL - day time running lamps ? The Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) control module is designed to automatically operate exterior lights depending on outside light conditions.
The DRL control module operates in 2 modes:
• The day mode
In the day mode, the DRL control module turns ON the high beam headlamps at a reduced intensity when the DRL ambient light sensor detects daylight under the following conditions:
- The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
- The headlamps are OFF.
- The park brake is OFF (released).
• The low light mode
In the low light mode, the DRL ambient light sensor detects darkness, turning OFF the high beam headlamps and turning ON the low beam headlamps through circuit 10.
Additionally, the DRL ambient light sensor turns ON the following lamps through circuit 9:
- The park lamps
- The sidemarker lamps
- The license lamps
- The tail lamps

A few minutes after I turn the engine off on my 2003 envoy one of my tail lights comes on and stays on. what should I check? thanks

Which of the tail lights comes on? Is it the parking light or brake light? And is it only one side that is coming on? This is a very strange symptom. The Body Control Module (BCM) controls the light and could be the problem, but before replacing it, a good diagnosis needs to be done.
