Electric latch on the rear Hatch door will not unlock

I guess ford was trying to make a couple more bucks by not putting key locks on all doors. Anyway, if you crawl inside and pop the small cover(about 2"x2") off the inside of the hatch where the latch is located you can reach in with a screwdriver and manually move control arms. The lever on the back/far side of assembly is in the locked position, you need to move to the opposite side left or right of it's current position, this will unlock the latch and should allow you to open the door. You mave have to pop acutor arm loose to move it. My problem ended up being the outside cover {license plate frame)seal had been damaged by a ford mechanic, that or it was defective. Water got in and damaged the the lock acuator. Had to replace entire assembly as ford does'nt offer just the acuator. Sealed the outside cover with clear silione.

What is the best method for changing the lower ball joint/control arm on a 2004 ford freestar?

The lower ball joint original is riveted into the lower control arm. If you can get to the lower control arm with a drill then the rivets can be drilled out and the joint removed . I find it quicker to remove the lower arm and do the job in a vice on the bench. Replacement ball joints will come with grade 8 bolts ( auto engineering quality) and will simply bolt into place using the holes for the rivets. So the procedure will be to jack the vehicle and place securely on jack stands. remove the wheel, remove the ball joint nut and using a ball joint removing tool drive the ball joint taper out of the support arm ( strut) Remove the inner pivot bolt ( remember to note the position of the lock washer as it is encentric and alters the wheel alignment) put the arm in a vice and carry on.

How do you get to the ac orifice on 2005 freestar? It is not accessable from top or under motor that I can tell.

You will need to remove the wiper arms, the plastic cowl under the arms, and the the wiper tub. The wiper tup will have ten to twelve bolts holding it to the firewall. Once the wiper tub is removed you can then remove the fresh air inlet. Once that is out of the way you can then remove the high side line from the EVAP core and replace the orifice.

Last night while taking off from a red light the 2005 freestar quit moving. I had plenty of rpm's, could put it thru all the gears but it would not move. Any suggestions?

This happened to me last year.
Do not take it to the dealer or a transmission shop. Go to a reputable repair shop and have them replace the torque converter and trans. pump shaft. The shaft will come out with the converter. It should cost less than 1,000.00 to repair. My repair was 700.00. Request an aftermarket converter and pump shaft.
