The adjustment screws/nuts should be located either on the top of the headlamp assembly, behind the headlamp assembly, or near the frame rail by the radiator support.

You will have vertical adjustment screws for each independent beam (separate highs and separate lows, but will be same screw if highs and lows are the same bulb). You may also have additional horizontal adjustment screws as well

Park your car on a level ground 30 feet from a wall and measure the height from the ground to the bulb and mark on a wall (do this for highs beams and low beams if the bulbs are separate, if highs and lows are the same bulb, only do it for the lows)

For Low Beams: If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall.

For High Beams (if separate from low beams): Aim the headlight directly at the line you marked on the wall.

This is an easy proceedure, but to properly do it you need a chart, or some other reference device that you can shine the lights on while adjusting. The factory adjustment has an attachment that attaches to the light and allows you to zero it in according to mfg specs, but most mechanics will use some sort of chart for zeroing in. Each headlight has 2 adjstment screws...one for up and down and the other for left and right. Locate these screws on the outer portion of the light, just beyond the lense, some on the outside, some are accessed from under the hood. With the lights on low beam, adjust each by turning the screw until the beams are positioned where you like. You may then road test and check on both low and hi beam. You will likely have to "tweak" you initial adjustment 1 or 2 times to get the desired result. Good Luck. I hope you find this very helpful.

Not sure on your model if they are on the inside or outside. If on the outside, (and they probably are), they are just to the outside of the headlight bezel. Not the 3 or 4 that attach the bezel, but screws that are spring loaded to the backside for 2 reasons, #1 when you adjust, the screw can no longer turn, #2 to hold the headlight in place and provide "pre-load" so when you looseen..if on the outside, the light will aim toward the center and vice versa. Good Luck, If you still can't find, I'll search for a pic and see if I can help zero in on your screws.

There are different configurations on different models. If the hood closes down next to the headlight, yoiu will likely have to raise the hood for the vertical and horizontal adjustment. In these instances there is usually no bezel, but rather a plastic lense that covers a halogen bulb that fits into the back of the lighting fixture. even with that configuration, there is little difference in the way the fixture adjusts. Each has a veritcal and a horizontal adjustment screw...not that difficult.

I have looked at several pics to try and help you more. There is something very simple that is being overlooked. I will personally go out today and inspect an '01 XL7 then report back my findings. One thing that I know, there has never been a motor vehicle produced without a method of adjusting the headlights. Will get back to you with first hand knowledge. From the pics I have seen, however, it looks as if the hood will have to be raised to access the adjustment screws.

Ii have nto yet found an 01 however I did find an 04 XL7 on a local car lot and had the attendant raise the hood and I viewed it with the service manager. On the top of both headlights, on the white plastic part was the stamp indicating U (up) D (down) L (left) R (right). The screws were not visable, but the diagram showed which way to turn...(indicated by arrows), to do the adjustment. The service manager said that the white cover had to be popped away from the lense with a screwdriver to make the adjustment. As I said, I have not yet found an 01, but when I do I'll check it out for differences.

    Hope this helps!

  1. Park the car facing a dark wall. This process works best when it is dusk or dawn as the lights will show up better on the wall and provide a more accurate view of how the lights currently line up. Turn the low beam headlights on.
  2. Step 2 Instruct your helper to sit in the car and see where the lights hit the wall currently. Whichever light is highest on the wall will be the light you line the other up with at first.
  3. Step 3 Pop the hood and examine the top of the driver's side headlight. There should be a screw in the middle of the top of the headlight to adjust the windage of the headlight beam. Using the screwdriver, turn the screw clockwise to make the beam shine lower and turn it counterclockwise to make the beam point higher on the wall.
  4. Step 4 Use the adjustment screws to line up the two headlights on low beams, and then turn on the car's high beams and check for alignment again. Use feedback from your helper to discern where and how much to move the beams.

Headlight adjusting screws are located above and to the side of light behind the headlight retainer. It may be necessary to remove the front grille. The engine hood must be open to access them as well.

To adjust the headlight, move the little screw on the back of the headlight near the the middle and/or when standing in front of the car if you turn the little gear to the left it will move the light up. Use a flathead screwdriver to adjust the height. Click on this link and scroll down you will find two attachments that you can click on to see pictures of these adjusment screws

2001 Suzuki XL7 is blowing the fuel pump fuse every 15-20 miles...It is pulling 260 ohms... What could be the problem?

Replace with known good fuel pump. The windings in your fuel pump are shorted and drawing too much current. This could be bad because it could cause a fire!!!!

4 wheel drive wont engage on 2oo1 suzuki XL7

Probably failed free axle air pump. This mounts below radiator on RH side of vehicle. Should be able to hear it buzz for a few seconds if you get down there and have someone else turn on the key and try to engage 4WD lever. No buzz-no work.

Our 2001 XL7 has gone through 2 of these in 150,000 mi. The unit is mounted low where it gets tire splash. Salt from road corrodes the wiring and it fails.

About 10 minutes to R and R.

Can get replacement through Southwest Suzuki on the Web for about $225.

Hope this helps.
