2004 Endeavor with Check Engine light on. At least second time showing PO456 code, checked gas cap. After coming back on, rechecked, now being told PO442 and recommending replacement of filler neck assembly at $500! Concerned this is not problem, and chasing. Lots of money! IMFEDUP

Have the O2 Sensor changed on the Right Bank, ( passenger side of the Engine, or where the # 1 cylinder is.)
Good luck and hope this helps

I own a 2004 mitsubishi endeavor. I removed the positive battery cable to disable the check engine light which came on due to the gas cap needed to be changed. I did purchase a new gas cap and was hoping...

You never disconnect the positive cable without disconnecting the negative one first . Causes voltage spikes ,could take out transistor in a module . An how do you know the check engine light was caused by the gas cap . Did the vehicle have a P0455 code ? P0455 OBD II Trouble Code or are you guessing ?

Car Battery Do and Don ts It sounds like you should take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop .

Check engine light comes on have had it in twice for a fix/they say its the gas cap well the first time they cleaned the old cap and re set the computer.the second time they replace the cap and re set the...

Well, I would check the filler neck connections and the condition of the filler neck. If this is leaking there, or the tank is leaking, the loose gas cap code will show up.

Keep taking it back to the original shop until the problem is fixed. Have faith.

Check engine light came on. Code P1456.

Did you change the gas cap with a Honda gas cap? Tighten it at least three clicks?
Also, Honda recommends that you never top off the tank when getting gas (only go to the click-off of the pump; otherwise you can get back flow into the system that will cause the code).
Tightening or replacing the cap will not immediately cause the light to go off; it can take up to three days of driving for the light to reset.
To check if your readiness codes (emission system) are set, turn the ignition to ON (II), without starting the engine. The Malfunction Indicator Lamp will come on for 20 seconds. If it then goes off, the readiness codes are set. If it blinks 5 times, the readiness codes are not set.
You can, of course, try resetting your engine light to see if it will come back on (which it probably will). I believe the procedure is:
Turn off the engine.
Press and hold the Select/Reset knob (odometer) in the instrument panel, then turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
Hold the knob for approximately ten seconds until the indicator resets.

Hope this helps you.

2006 Dodge Stratus Check engine light

Small vacuum leak to start in evap system, which can quite often be traced back to gas cap. I'd clean gas cap seal good & add a little Vaseline, to the rubber "O" ring on cap, and wipe surface where cap screws in real good & clean, then have codes erased, or disconnect battery for a few seconds, and then see if it comes back. Make sure you put cap on tight after adding fuel.

Trouble code po456 evap small leak ? could it be the gas cap ?

Can't say 100% obviously, but quite often that is the cure, but try to take some time to make sure all your hoses , in the system are in good shape & tight.

2005 pt cruiser check engine light came on put a diagnostic code tester on and it came up code po457 and po456 what would this mean?

P0457 is a loose gas cap, P0456 is a small evap system leak. The seal on your gas cap is probably worn. Replace the cap, clear the codes with either a diagnostic tester or by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting it. It will take a few days for the code to come back if it isn't fixed, but that usually does the trick. I hope this helps.

Check engine light code PO456

most likely the pressure sensor in the fuel tank for the evap system is defective.
