Cigarette lighter I have a 1999 camry ce and my cigarette lighters do no work, is there anything that i can do to get them fix?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Hi there, Firstly, can you verify that your Interior "Courtesy lights" are working? Some vehicles have the cigarette lighter hooked up to the same circuit as the Interior courtesy lamps and/or radio circuit. If neither are working, then I would firstly inspect the appropriate fuse and/or relay. The fusebox is usually situated in or near the footwell area, behind a kickpanel....or on/inside the dashboard.

Check the fuse. 15 amp, labeled CIG in fuse box. the fuse box is like in front of the drivers left knee under the lower dash panel. The power outlet should be there also.

Check the fuse first and make sure it not blown, the lighter is cheap and easy to replace, everything is pop out and plug in. check ebay for a replacement. if not some mechanical incline, any small garage can do it for cheap like 20-25 bucks.

How do I replace the cigarette lighter on my 1999 Toyota Camry Solara

simply take it to a parts house to be sure of the fit and style, they have them for a few bucks...much less than dealers...if your lighter base needs fixed (not likely) you can buy it too...

Where is the fuse for the cigarette lighter in a 1999 toyota camry and what could be potential reasons why it doesnt work

A good thing to check to see if it's just a fuse is try your external mirrors to see if they move, they work off the same fuse as the lighter.

If it is a fuse, and if you are in Australia then the fuse box is next to the drivers right knee area, In America, then next to their left knee. There is also a fusible link built into some cigarette lighters, mine has one. When it blew, the auto electrician was able to resolder the link and get me going again until I could buy a new lighter.

Hope this helps.

1995 camry wagon cigarette lighter not working

start with a test light and check for power at the center of the cigarette lighter socket. If power is good, then check for ground at side of lighter socket.
If no power, run wire from power wire of lighter to power wire of stereo, thus tapping the power directly and bothering to trace out where the open int he circuit may be.
