Exploded diagram of manual transmission to find plastic gear part

Check the linkage first. They put plastic grommets on the arms. They disintegrate. After that, it is internal. They also put plastic tabs on the shift forks. Could be a bad gear.

It because of the forks inside the transmission are worn out or they have lost their plastic pieces on the fork ends.(some transmissions are built this way, plastic). you have to pull the transmission to fix it.

Buy a Haynes repair manual for your vehicle. It will have exploded diagrams and step-by-step repair procedures. Often, special tools are required for transmission rebuilds-like snap ring removers, feeler gauges, run-out dials.
