My 2000 volvo s80 rough idles up and down how can i fix this? When I stop or just sit in neutral my volvos idle goes up and down. The car also doesn't have a good pick up speed, it seems to struggle when i press the gas pedal. I just had an oil change. What causes this and how can I fix it?

The car has no idle valve. This is a typlical characteristic of a bad throttle module. Be careful cleaning this module! DO NOT spray anything directly into it. Wet a cloth and wipe it. It rarely helps but unless it is a turbo it is easy to get to. BTW a new module dloes require software.

Have the idle air control valve checked, it might just need a cleaning, or a new one. Check all the vaccum hoses for leaks, all it takes is a pin hole to screw up the sensors.

When I stop or sit in neutral my 2000 Volvo S80 idle goes up and down, how can I fix this?

symtom of faulty I A C motor (idle air control motor) this regulates the idle air to fuel ratio when at idle, when faulty dumps more fuel ,then the o2 sensors tell computor to much fuel for throttle position/ speed so computor backs off fuel almost stalls dumps fuel again and repeats. we call this hunting. because air/ fuel mixture changes idle goes up n down.
im sure the dealer will gladly relieve you of lots of money.....try aftermarket or an auto wrecker may have one . careful i've seen some volvo engine parts need programing after instalation (dealer only)!!!

2001 volvo s80 rough ideal below 40 mph especially when the ac is on. Also if i press the throttle while in park or in drive at low speed the ideal gets rough (pulsates and often stalls).

SOUND IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE NOT WORKING PROPERLY.IT SHOULD STEP UP IDLING WHEN YOU TURN ON THE AC TO KEEP ENGINE FROM STALLING OUT.

Just replaced the starter and flex plate in my volvo s80 engine was running fine before repair now it starts, idles rough and then stalls out. put on a new mass air flow sencor what could be wrong?

were the bolts holes on the flexi plate in an of set pattern?
if not you could have set the plate in wrong position which would
cause timing signal to be out of sync with crankshaft

I have a 2000 s80 volvo transmission shifts fine but in park or nueteral it makes a rumbling noise goes away when put into gear. it did make a jolt and bang when i pulled out from the intersection thanks...

when you are sitting idle and you press the clutch without putting it into gear does the noise go? if so you will need to fit a new clutch kit.
