To remove the lead from the battery to the alternator while it is running is to invite a destroyed alternator . Varying voltages with engine RPM is indicative of a bad battery or problem alternator regulator . Have a load test done on the battery to check for cell problems and have the alternator bench tested to check the performance .
Check all connections from battery to ground, battery to starter relay etc.etc. Check wires to and from alternator. *** check voltage output of alternator. im 95% sure its a bad alternator.
ask a, local mechanic to have a look ,i suspect the idle motor but it could be the throttle sosition sensor under the dash ,its a renault so its impossible to read any diagnostic codes unless its an american market vehicle
the alternator is a doodle to change ,when you know how ?? was it a new recon unit or a secondhand scrapyard job---- check for power to teh large terminal the start engine and disconnect neg battery terminal if engine stops alternator fault ,if engine keep running but red light still on then its warning light control fault which is built into alternator so change alternator .
The charging problem should be fixed first, pursue the other alarms later if they still exist.
You probably have worn alternator brushes, causing the intermittent 'BAT' warning indicator.
Get the alternator re-checked,
- ensure alternator and battery grounding connections are all ok.
(The battery terminal voltage should be approx 14.5v with the engine running with a load such as headlights on or heater blower motor running).
While driving my 2006 pt c. All the warning lights come on, the dashboard needle gauges go down, and the car looses power. I pump the gas peddle and it goes back to normal.
