Odometer reads 40,000 miles. Rattle under front end of vehicle. Dealers says both front stablinks are worn and need replaced. How can this be with such low milage?
paved roads only. I'm a mom, i drive my kids back and forth to school. I drive to optimize gas milage...there is no way this can be caused from abuse. What about not installed or tightened properly at the factory?paved roads only. I'm a mom, i drive my kids back and forth to school. they are also telling me the upper strut mounts are shot and need replaced. I don't doubt the diagnosis, I just think it is highly unlikely that this could happen given my driving patterns, unless there was a defect in these oem parts, or an installation problem.they are also telling me the upper strut mounts are shot and need replaced. This can happen by runnig on rough roads hitting bumps hard turns hard braking and fast starts because every time you do one of those things it causes the swaybar endlinks to go up and down and wearing them out permaturely.

yea, flimsy plastic under front end, wheel wells, etc., could also be @ brake calipers, they have a flimsy metal clip that creates noise, all these will give you noise, just reinforce the plastic with screws,it works, some silcone will quiet the brake noise, check you CVjoints ,boots, make sure the rubber bellows are still attached, no cuts or splits with grease coming out, that would be a grinding noise. check your BELTS, worn or stretched needing replaced or tightened. that should do it.
Vehicle is still under US warranty - Take to Authorized Hyundai Service Department & have it diagnosed/repaired under warranty (was this vehicle in an accident?... if so, contact Insurance agent for proper instructions).
A rattle in the front end is a pretty vague description.
This could be caused by struts, loose mounts, loose wheels, engine mounts or almost anything else but may I suggest you check the sway bar bushes located at the end of the sway bar, this is the most common cause of rattles in these vehicles.
I also suggest you check every other bolt you can see in the front end, then look for more and check those too.
Every rattle has potential to be dangerous, especially suspension faults, I suggest that you take your car to a competent mechanic as anything you touch in relation to suspension could kill you or someone else, I have seen it happen.
I hope this helps and good luck.
At 36,000 miles I had to have my rack and pinions replaced. Problem fixed. At 84,000 miles I had the front tie rods replaced and new front tires. Still has the noise. Now I find out it is suspension and bushings. I still love the car though.
the rattle could be a loose frt end component, have the front suspension checked for worn ball joints or tie rod ends or even worn sway bar links, as far as the pinging make sure the egr valve is operating right, if it is then try a higher octane gas, good luck.
Hi and welcome to FixYa. Please try this:
GO out to the car, and lift up on the hood. Does it raise a bit and rattle? If so;
Open the hood, and look at the perimeter of the front radiator support. You will see 2 small rubber thingys, that look like that they are screwed onto the metal that is holding the radiator. Unscrew them a little, and close the hood. Pull up on the hood and see if the rattle goes away. If not, repeat unscrewing the rubber things until the lift disappears.
A FixYa rating (4 blue diamonds) would be greatly appreciated for my assistance.
Front stabilizer/sway bar bushings sound worn. I had same, on my 91'. Felt like someone was thumping the floor under my feet sometimes. I managed to get away with spinning the outer ones at control arms, but replaced ones in middle at frame.
