In that case it is most likely to be the washer pump that has failed. It may be worth checking for a blown fuse first, although i think this is unlikely as the wipers are possibly likely to run from the same fuse.
It will be quite easy to test for a live feed to the pump once access can be gained to it. The pump will be located at the bottom of the washer tank, which may be tucked in behind the front wheel arch (I'm not exactly sure where, but it will be easy to see wear the washer tank filler neck dis-appears to, and on a lot of cars it can be accessed by partialy removing the plastic wheel arch liner). The pump should only have a 2 pin connector plug, 1 live and 1 earth. this can be tested for by unplugging it and using a test lamp or even bulb (somthing like a 12 volt indicator bulb in a holder so the wires can be poked into the washer pump's plug). if you can light up the test lamp or bulb then it can only be the pump.
do you have rear screen washers, and if so is this filled up via a tank in the trunk/boot?
on a lot of cars this rear washer will use the same pump (in which case the pump will have 2 pipes on it, one feeding the front, the other for the rear). operating the rear washer reverses the polarity of the the live and earth feed to the pump, so the pump runs backwards and pumps liquid throught the other pipe.
if front and rear washers dont operate, this will rule out a fault with the switch if no live feed is present at the pump.
Check fuse first, then unplug the connector going into the washer tank and take a 12 volt tester and plug it into the hot side of the wire while attempting to wash your windows...does the tester come on. If the answer is yes, your pump has failed.
