On the top of the bellhousing. From the drivers point of view it is in the 11:00 o'clock position. The harness wraps around the back of the bellhousing and plugs in on the passenger side of the block near the oil sending unit.

SOURCE: 2001 jeep grand cherokee wont reverse in

This could be an issue with the shift solenoid , but can also be caused by low fluid due to a leak, check your fluid. Is there a check engine light on, if there is it could be a solenoid issue.

I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee limited and when i go to turn the engine it start for a few seconds then turn off

this is usually the sign of a bad crank postition sensor but often times it is a loose or corrosion filled connector- clean as needed. Use OEM parts.

do a key self test;

off-on, off-on, off-on. ( do not crank the engine) the codes will flash out on the check engine light in pairs of numbers ( 5-5 being the end of the test) or codes will display on a digital odometer.

Cant find engine number on 2001 v8 jeep grand cherokee

On V-8 engines, the serial number is stamped on a machined pad on the left front corner of the cylinder block.

On the six cylinder engine, build date information can be found stamped on a machined pad located on the right side of the cylinder block between the No. 2 and 3 cylinders.
