Power steering went out

Check the power steering fluid. I am sure it is low. If it is low than fill it up but you have a leak. You can determine how bad it is after filling it up again. If your pump has gone out fluid will not help and you need to replace that.

Power steering and brakes stopped working in my 2003 GMC sierra 2500 HD..replaced water pump and belt..still not working..

You probably have hydroboost brakes and that system is powered by the power steering unit. If you have no steering and brakes, the first thing to check is the power steering pump. Check for low/no fluid. If the fluid is okay then the pump might not be pumping and you will need to replace it.

I went to reverse my car off the drive and my steering wheel has gone totally stiff and the battery light came on although has since gone off the steering wheel will not turn???

Check to make sure your alternator belt hasnt snapped, the same belt usually drives the power steering.

Hope this helps

Was driving and the ac went out and power steering

Sounds like a belt has gone.
Have a look at the front of the motor if you can see pulleys with no belt on them that will confirm it... Any auto parts store should be able to supply a replacement given year and model details.

Power steering went out on 1996 ford ranger what is problem?

The problem could be anything from a power steering hose has leaked out all the power steering fluid or the steering rack could be leaking fluid. Has the car made any strange noises when turning the steering wheel? A car that is loosing power steering fluid will at some point lose so much fluid as to make the power steering pump cavitate (starve for fluid) and the pump will make a high pitched noise when it has too little fluid in it. I can't remember if the 1996 ranger had only one belt on the engine or if the power steering has it own seperate belt. The belt being gone would prevent the power steering from working but if you only have one belt the car would also overheat.

Power steering pump

your serpentine drive belt could be slipping over your power steering pump. Sounds like a premature failure from your pump. This is not an easy fix depending on the location of the pump itself. Remove your serpentine belt, locate the pump and pulley. Try to spin the pulley by hand. If there is alot of tension, your pump may need replacing. If not, try replacing the belt and check your belt tensioner for looseness.
