First unhook the battery, remove the air cleaner box and ducting to the throttle body, you will see the 2 bolts for the top. you will then need to go under the vehicle(make sure the vehicle is properly supported), and you will see the bracket between the engine block and the intake manifold, remove it.the starter wire does not get removed from the starter, it has a connector about 4-5 inches away. disconnect it there. disconnect the battery cable from the starter, remove the last bolt and it will come right out. all in all it takes about 30 minutes. most places will charge a "core charge" on a product like this. dont be suprised, however when you return the old starter you will get your money back. let me know if you need further assistance.
Replaced starter and car still won't start and ignition is sometimes hard to turn you think it is the switch or the whole unit. the car is a 1997 nissan sentra.
CRAWL UNDER VEHICLE AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY. FIND STARTER PULL HOT WIRE, MARK WITH TAPE PULL GROUND ALSO MARK, PULL TWO OR THREE BOLTS THAT HOLD STARTER TO ENGINE... REVERSE DIRECTIONS TO REINSTALL.
SOURCE: Replace the timing belt tensioner on a 1990 Nissan Sentra
The belt tensioner is located under the timing cover. It is 1 1/2 round and about 3/4 inch with a groove in the middle where a bolt is tightened. When you remove the timing cover you will see the timing belt, the camshaft sprocket and the crankshaft gear. The timing belt goes around these components.. The belt tensioner is loosened and the new timing belt is placed. The sproket also has to be replaced if it is broken. Be careful to notice the little marks that are aligned on the sproket and above the camshaft.. They can be small arrows that have to be aligned exactly the way you took them off. replace the belt and you tighten the tensioner so the belt fits snug and tighten the bolt in the middle of the belt tensioner. It is not too difficult, if you know something about mechanics. If you don't, you will be better of taking it to somebody who does know.
SOURCE: Headlight out 97 Nissan Sentra
should just be the bulb. Open you hood and look on the back of the head light. should be wires going into the housing. Grab the fitting the wires are going through and turn, then pull out the bulb
SOURCE: need to bypass ignition switch on nissan sentra
it should be underneath your car in between the firewall and the engine. Now you don't want to supply direct power to your starter because you'll end up frying it. However to just start the car once you've located the starter, get a long screwdriver with a plastic handle and connect the two wires with the screwdriver.
As for a long term fix, without investing the money to replace the necessary parts. You will need to attach a wire that can handle 12v to both wires on your starter separately. Then connect the other ends of both wires to a switch that can handle 12v, and mount that in your car somewhere. Then whenever you need to start your car just flip the switch on until the car starts then once it is started flip it back off.
I know this sounds like a lot but it is very doable with about $5 and a little bit of time.
SOURCE: Starter won't turn over engine
I know it sounds dumb, but by turning over, you mean that the engine turns but does not start? Or, that the starter turns but the engine does not turn (spin with the starter engaged and running). If engine turns with starter, check spark & fuel. If starter turns and engine does not, check the teeth on the flywheel. if any are missing or worn off, it will give that problem. If starter engages but engine seems to be "locked up", remove spark plugs and attempt to turn it by hand. Any coolant on plugs indicates a blown head gasket or cracked cylinder head. If engine does not turn by hand with plugs out, likely you have a bearing or other "lower end" problem.
