the firing order is 1-3-4-2 with #1at the end of the motor were the pulleys are.usually on the distributor cap #1 is marked and i think the distributor rotates clockwise.if you pull the cap and crank the motor over you can see the direction of rotation.then insert the wires accordingly to the order on the cap.
i had this problem when its dark out turn the car on pop ur hoos and look very closely at ur spark plug wires if u see sparks or the wires archin off eachother then thats ur problem id change ur wires plugs and feul filter thats what fixed mine and i have 270k on mines runs great good luck
Nissan recommends only NGK ZFR5E-11 spark plugs for your 1991 Stanza and they already come pre-gapped in the box. They might cost a little more than bargain brand spark plugs, but your stanza will definitely run much better with OEM plugs.
hey go back over every thing make sure every thing is done the right way also make sure the fireing order is right i been doing this for years and still get it wrong sum times
Having done the project once, Isolate the Battery and carry on from there, as you did before, making sure that all reconnected Terminals are Clean and Secure.

The fusible links on this car's battery terminal are actually plugged in to the battery terminal, red-wire and green wires. Good Luck get back to me if you need more assistance
