Accessible more easily from under the car - remove engine splash shield. Not easy - designed for ramp servicing.

good luck

Jag-you-are would prefer that you take your car to one of their service centers!! probably has an internal filter element that needs special equip. to access and change out.lot of high end cars have that type of filter now. my brothers mercedes mid-1990s doesn't even have a tranny dip-stick! need special tools to check level! hard to be a 'shade-tree' mechanic anymore!
good luck!

HOW TO CHANGE MY OIL ON MY 2002 JAGUAR S-TYPE

I assume its a 3.0l? Just like any other car. Pull the drain plug on bottom of oil pan. Change the oil filter on bottom driver side (3600 series filters). It will take 7 quarts.

This morning there were 2 messages engine system fault and gear shift default I believe--what could be problem and how much money in repair costs am I looking at? Thanks

Try changing the air filter, the oxigen sensor is very sensitive to it, be sure to warm the engine in the morning, Jaguars uses "thin" oil, when parking, first turn off the A/C (affects the oxigen sensor too)

HOW OFTEN SHOULD THE AIR & CABIN (POLLEN) FILTERS BE CHANGED ON X TYPE 2lt DIESEL ?

These filters should both be replaced at the same time, every 6000 miles or every other oil change. However, the cabin filter almost always fouls up faster than the engine air filter, so maybe every 3000 miles for the cabin.

Gearbox

you cant ,its done from underneath with the correct computer software ,if it works leave well ,no leaks?' then it doesnt need topping up .Dont play with it ,the oil will last forever and never needs changing because it doesnt get dirty ,its only hydraulic oil which doesnt have any viscosity additives like poly meythyl methacralate.Yes dealer might say it needs changing but thats only to boost their income.
