ABS problem on 1992 K1500 Chevy 4x4 350ci

First you need to have EBCM - electronic brake control module check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . If the light is on there is a code stored . I think most part stores can do this and for free . After you find out what code is stored , looking up that code in service repair information for diagnostic trouble shooting chart would be next step . There are a few codes too.

Find the code do the diagnostic's , fix the problem , wiring issue's , a sensor , bad module ,what ever it is . The light will go out then . Here is a sample of code discription .

• DTC C0040 Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit

Most likely the motor is going out. It is on the transfer case. Try unplugging it and plugging it back in, Corrosion.

have the system scanned, there are a lot of things that can cause the lights to turn on and only a scanner that can read ABS will be able to pinpoint it.

Sounds like a wire is shorting out. Trace it back and see if there's a bare spot touching metal. Hope that works

check the rear brake adjustment and clean out all the brake dust.this can happen if the brakes are not adjusted properly as the misadjusted side will pull the brake shoes into the drum and act like the brake is on.if it was an abs problem or sympton the abs light should have come on to indicate a problem depending at what speed it happens.

1990 Chevy 4.3 l engine runs rough at idle half the time-- sometimes it's OK, other days it's rough and can smell raw gas, as tho it's running rich... any ideas?

These trucks were problemmatic with the abs computer located inside the engine compartment on the brake fluid resevior or right below it.

Your truck is equipped with RWAL or rear wheel anti-lock. This just worked on the rear brakes(duh) but the speed sensor was taken from the speedometer drive at the transmission tailshaft, and would allow one rear wheel to lock as long as the speedo kept turning. Later models were improved with wheel speed sensors at each wheel.

thats serious... need to find out if its a brake problem or rear end , or trans problem. I would not think universal replacement would have anything to do with it, but thats strange.
