Where is the pivot bolt i have loosened the 2 other bolts but still cant get the belt to tighten back up 98 dodge neon

You need to remove the pasengers side wheel an d some inner fender pieces to get at the botton alternator bolt,there is a nut on the other end that can be a problem if you're doing it alone.

How to tighten alternator belt on 1993 pathfinder

Four cylinder engine - loosen bottom pivot bolt on alternator, then loosen top bolt and pull the alternator away from the engine to tighten belt. When at proper tension, tighten top bolt to hold tension and tighten bottom pivot bolt.
Six cylinder engine - loosen the lock bolt at the bottom of the alternator, then use the adjustment bolt (perpendicular to the lock bolt) to tighten the belt tension. Once properly tensioned, tighten the lock bolt.

Serpiten belt is lose

Have to loosen pivot bolt at bottom of power steering, plus top adjustment and use 1/2" drive bar in hole supplied in bracket to add tension, then re-tighten.

FOR 3.0LENGIBE. PUTTING ON ALTERNATOR BELT YOU NEED TO LOOSEN LOCKING BOLT IN SLOT IN THE BRACKET.LOOSEN PIVOT NUT BOTTOM NUT USE A PRY BAR PRY AGAINST ALTERNATOR TO TIGHTEN BELT TENSION. BELT SHOULD DEFLECT 1/4 TO 1/2. FOR 2.4L ENGINE TO GET ALTERNATOR BELT ON YOU NEED LOOSEN THE PIVOT BOLT OR NUT AT THE BOTTOM OF ALTERNATOR , LOOSEN THE LOCK BOLT AND TURN THE ADJUSTER BOLT TO TIGHTEN ALTERNATOR BELT THE BELT DEFLECTION SHOULD BE 1/4 TO 1/2 INCH WHEN YOU PRESS DOWN WITH THUMB.

Where is alternator located in the engine compartment?

The alternator is accessed from UNDER the vehicle LEFT SIDE facing the engine bay.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Loosen, but do not remove the alternator adjusting nut.

3. Turn the front wheels completely to the right, then raise and safely support the vehicle.

4. Unfasten the retainers, then remove the plastic lower splash shield.

5. Unfasten the alternator field circuit wiring connector. You must squeeze the locking tab to release it.

6. Remove the B+ terminal nut and wire.

7. Loosen the alternator pivot bolt, but do not remove it.

8. Remove the alternator drive belt. The alternator spill shield does not have to be removed.

9. If necessary, remove the bottom pivot bolt and anti-rotation tab.

10. Unfasten the three mounting pivot bracket bolts, then remove the pivot bolt and bracket.

11. Holding the alternator in one hand, remove the adjustment nut then slide the alternator off the T-bolt. The T-bolt does not have to be removed. Lower the alternator and remove through the wheel well.

12. You may need to use a C-clamp to drive the sleeve into the mounting ear for installation clearance.

13. Position the alternator in the vehicle, sliding it onto the T-bolt. Install the adjusting nut.

14. Install the bracket and pivot bolt, then install the three mounting pivot bracket bolts. Tighten the bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).

15. If removed, install the anti-rotation tab and bottom pivot bolt hand-tight.

16. Install the alternator drive belt.

17. Tighten the alternator pivot bolt to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).

18. Install the B+ terminal wire and nut. Tighten the nut to 75 inch lbs. (9 Nm).

19. Attach the alternator field circuit wiring connector, making sure the locking tabs are engaged.

20. Install the splash shield, then carefully lower the vehicle.

21. Tighten the adjusting nut.

22. Connect the negative battery cable. Adjust the alternator belt.

How do you take the alternator off for a 96 plymouth neon

For REMOVAL & INSTALLATION check this procedure...

How to tighting alternator belt on 93 dodge spirti

Your alternator should be held in place by two (2) bolts, one bolt is a pivot bolt, and the other is your adjustment bolt.

Loosen both, only loosen them, not remove them. Put pressure on the alternator, and tighten the adjustment bolt first, then toe pivot bolt.

Need to change the alternator

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

3.3L Engine:
  1. Disconnect the battery negative - cable.
  2. Disconnect the alternator field circuit plug.
  3. Remove the B+ terminal nut and wire.
  4. Loosen the adjusting T-bolt, but do not remove it.
  5. Loosen the pivot bolt, but do not remove it either.
  6. Remove the alternator drive belt.
  7. Remove the adjusting T-bolt, pivot bolt, and mounting bolt, be careful not to loose the spacer.
  8. Remove the mounting bolt.
  9. Remove the spacer & washer
  10. Remove alternator.
To install:
  1. Attachthe alternator to the support bracket. Tighten all bracket andalternator (except for the wiring nuts) bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).Install the B+ terminal nut and wire and tighten to 75 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
  2. Install the drive belt onto the alternator pulley. Make certain that the belt is seated correctly on the pulley.
  3. Connect the negative - battery cable.

3.5L Engine:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Loosen the lower mounting bolt but do not remove it.
  3. Loosen the pivot bolt, but do not remove it.
  4. Loosen the belt adjusting bolt.
  5. Remove the alternator drive belt.
  6. Remove the bracket.
  7. Remove the lower mounting bolt and pivot bolt.
  8. Remove the alternator.
  9. Disconnect the alternator field circuit plug.
  10. Remove the B+ terminal nut and wire.
To Install:
  1. Attach the alternator and bracket to the engine, then tighten the mounting bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  2. Install the drive belt onto the alternator pulley. Make certain that the belt is seated correctly on the pulley.
  3. Install and tighten the B+ terminal nut and wire to 75 inch lbs. (9 Nm) onto the new alternator.
  4. Connect the alternator field circuit plug.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.

How to replace a altenator belt on a 1995 plymouth neon

I had to put my 95 on ramps to make it easier to see. You have to loosen top adjustment nut, then in behind alternator is a bolt that goes through a plate that you have to turn clockwise, to tighten. I found it easier to see form under on ramps. You may have to loosen lower pivot bolt slightly too.

Replace power srearing belt

there are three bolts on back side of p/s pump (13mm head) loosen bolts, there is a bolt on front of engine (15mm head) loosen, this will allow the pump slide down to replace belt, to tighten put pry bar on rad support and under the front of pump until the belt tension is proper, keeping tension on pry bar
tighten bolts.

1998 dodge neon airconditioning belt adjustment?

This procedure involves correcting the tension on the power steering accessory and A/C compressor drive belt.

1. Loosen the power steering pump locking bolts A and B and pivot bolt C(Illustration 1 and 2 ) to allow adjustment of belt tension.
2. Using a 1/2" breaker bar, adjust belt tension by applying torque to the square hole "D" on the power steering pivot bracket. Adjust the tension as follows:

Belt tension with no belt replacement: A. Using the Belt Tension Gauge Special Tool Kit C-4162, adjust the belt tension to 100 lb.
B. Tighten in order, first tighten the locking bolt A to 27 Nm (20 ft. Ibs) then, bolt B to27Nm (20 ft. Ibs). Finally tighten the pivot bolt C to 54 Nm (40 ft. Ibs).
Belt tension with belt replacement:
A. Using the Belt Tension Gauge Special Tool Kit C-4162, adjust the belt tension to 135 lb.
B. Tighten in order, first tighten the locking bolt A to 27 Nm (20 ft. Ibs) then, bolt B to 27Nm (20 ft. Ibs). Finally tighten the pivot bolt C to 54 Nm (40 ft. Ibs).
C. Start the engine and allow the vehicle to idle for 15 minutes to allow the belt to seat.
D. Repeat the belt tensioning procedure, set belt tension to 135 lb.
