I have a 2003 Subaru Forester XT Luxury manual transmission with 100,000Km. The last 5000Km I have been increasingly aware of noise - hum rather than grinding or scraping or shadder - from rear end which is louder the faster one goes. Not related to engine revs, but to the wheels turning. Turning Rt or Lt doesn't seem to influence the noise, which is rather like road noise, but seems to be arising from higher than contact between tires and road, and seems to fill the rear compartment of the car. I think about the differential, but I have never had to replace 1 tire, having only replaced all 4 at one time. The diff oil appears to be quite clean, which doesn't suggest excess wear of the Diff.

Hello,
Noise can be also from some sticky brake pad, or the bearings of the rear wheels, or even some spoiler, but you should have noticed it right after installing, and it is another sound. As for the differential, there might be a broken tooth, or again bearings, regardless of oil state.

2003 subaru forester xs won't move. all gears engage but just won't move what could the problem be? Changed all the brakes and calipers it seems it wants to move but won't

Assuming the new calipers are not dragging/jammed, look at
* the handbrake system. Is this locking the back wheels?
* the hill-start assist, if fitted (on manual transmission cars). This can also jam the brakes.

How you fill up the subaru forester automatic transmission with fluid? Putting fluid but it isn't reaching the pan.

Do you have a non sealed transmission ? If yes, have you tried filling it with the vehicle running ?

Reprogramming remote start

If it doesn't program, it is probably lived it's life. If it's been in there since 09. When I get cars with after market remotes/security. And they are having problems. The first thing I take out is the remote systems. So for this has fixed every car. Good ones last about 7 years, cheap ones will get you maybe 2 years.

Hi there-I have a luxury turbo XT MY06 forester. I have it seviced every 6 months. I have had it since new. My dealership say it is TIME to replace the timing belt but I have only done 50,000 kms. Is time...

A Friend of mine had a Forrester and I'm sure he was told that the belt should be changed around 90 to 100K as a precaution. You don't want it breaking in the middle of no where. Apparently its a pretty expensive job. I would ring around a few Auto repair shops. 50K seems a bit early for such a job.

Hello experts, I have 2004 Subaru Forester XT with 130K. I did a transmission flush at about 90K. The transmission shifts hard form 1st to 2nd at low speed, and there is slight jolt on faster...

No, and add some Trans X slip stop and leak stop, sold by K and W. about 16 ounces, this really helped my Forester, as a lot of them have this issue with the clutch pack in the tranny. sold at most auto parts stores and Wal Mart. take care.

2003 subaru forester makes noise when airconditioner comes on. Is it the fan belt

What kind of sound? If it squeals then the fan belt needs tightening or replacing.
If the sound is the engine increasing in speed when the compressor engages then that's normal.
