IDLES AROUND 300 TO 400 RPM, AND STALLS, DOESN'T MATTER IF ENGINE IS HOT OR COLD, AIR FILTER GOOD, HAVE 55,000 ORGINAL MILES ON TRUCK, ORGINAL OWNER. FUEL FILTER CHANGED AT 47,000 MILES. FIRST MAJOR PROBLEM WITH TRUCK. I'M THINKING IT IS SOME KIND OF IDLING MODULE?

mileage comp. like mine, it's useless. forget that. but dead battery reset that, and is of no matter.
questions are plenty on all cases: (cars are complex!)
the engine stalls.? sure.
in to gear means , Drive and Reverse right?
when you do that the PCM adds more air via the ISC idle speed control valve. and just my do that. and is good sign.

1. besides stalling, does engine and trans work great , driving, like fast /slow, , hot/cold engine, , up hills too, fast?
2. is the CEL lamp in dash on key on and off running.?
3. did you check all fuses.
4. what is miles on engine.
5. when did it run perfect last, 1 week ago, 1year, 10 years?
6. ever get and engine tune up this decade? spark parts and filters?
7. is the ASD relay dropping out just before the stall>?
8. is engine rpm below 800 RPM before the stall? hot engine.
9. does engine reach and old full engine temp, 180F or more?
10. use a scan tool and see all DTC errors yet, dont skip this.

reg codes only work in UK, use real years..... so ROTW can tell.
please, tell what it does good and bad driving, idling , parked, moviing
hot and cold engine, full power from engine on hills.
stalling (it stalls) but when does it stall, under what conditions. hot or cold engine. only at stop lights hot. or>????
when an engine is cold the RPM is very high (iAC device) and it will not stall cold , if it does that is key.
if it never stalls hot. and runs perfect hot say so.
all these, clues build evidence. to what is wrong.
then we do tests.
PS: ever think to get that 60,000 mile (100km) tuneup>> now be it.

key fact too, can you save the stall or low RPm with fast right foot action??????
that is misfire, can be caused by 50 things,
most things are in engine, like cracked valves or pistons,etc.
but in physics its just 3 (assumes battery is at 13.3v to 15v running)
stalls or near stalls.
when the engine shook, was RPM below 800 RPM
at below 500 all engines shake, that is normal for idle speed control failure.
ever service the engine? at every 60,000 miles,? do the listed things
in the operators guide? at the least spark plugs and filters.?
tune up parts are those parts that never last the life of an engine, 300k.+
no engine option stated. there are many.

800RPM hot misfire is another matter.
that will be (compression good all cylinder) bad spark on any ,bad fueling or egr stuck open (egr will cause dropping idle, if extreme leak)
no engine stated so cant look up if it has EGR. some engines dont
the use a detuned CAM to do same thing.
its and older truck some have huge mileage after , 11 long years. huge. (unstated )
oh all old cars or high mileage a compression test and leak down test
are the 1st step by me.
you cant burn fuel well with flat compression.

only stalls , but runs perfect even up hills, at wide open throttle.

ok stalls 101.
1; lost 12vdc to EFI system.
2: lost engine compression.
3: lost spark.
4: lost fueling or floods
there is a simple test for each.
do you want more guesses, or how to do tests.
can do both, but my guessing fails 99 /100 times.

tune it up
do the right foot test. those are always first. on stalls.
always.

check the MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure). The ECM (car computer) uses that to keep idle at minimum 750 RPM. It's normal for it to run high when cold. These small 4 banger motors typically run hot, and they won't run right IF they're NOT running hot, ergo the idle is usually high when it is cold so as to cause it to warm up quicker. If the RPM's drop below 750, suspect the MAP sensor, &/or ECM.

It can be issue with IAC( idle air control valve) causing the problem.

Code 37 is torque converter clutch solenoid failure. Transmission wont shift in and out of overdrive.

Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

my friend had one that did the same and he replaced throttle positioning sensor and it fixed it. but when you put a new battery in them they wont idle until you hold at steady low rpm for almost a minute because it has to relearn its position. so check your voltage meter and make sure it is around 13-14 volts when running and not on 12 while running because it could be too low of voltage for it and would be the same principle as disconnecting the battery because it takes 12 volts to keep computer on. hope I wasnt too confusing but I just want you to check your voltage for free before you buy electrical parts.
