Check your rear end to see if you have a sensor like in this video, if so it could solve some issues. The video describes items all going out around the same time. Its based on a 2 wheel drive but who knows you might have the same sensor in the same location. This is a shot in the dark, but who knows it might help or point you in the right direction.

I suggest the possibility of a loose connector, maybe the main engine connector remove inspect pins apply diaelectric compound and reconnect the connector with care to assure good contact with all pins.

The battery light comes on in my truck, and the volt meter reads near 0/low. I have installed a new battery and a new alternator. The same results are shown, What could be the problem? Help!

Check your operator's manual. Make sure any and all fuses that have anything to do with the affected items are not blown and are working properly. If you can; check for loose fuse connections or wires. Hope this helps. God bless!

1998 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 w/automatic transmission. Reverse gear suddenly not functioning!! Been in a severe deep freeze here on east coast.I don't know where to start to diagnose issue.

Since this vehicle is approaching 20 years old there may be issues that are not related to the cold weather. Since no one appears to have yet answered your problem I can comment on the cold weather and its effects on fluids. You may need to check your water thermostat as the trans lines go to the radiator and the thermostat affects the radiator temperature. Also, old fluid may not flow as well as clean trans fluid does, the valve body in the trans may be sticking or getting insufficient pressure do to an obstruction. New fluid and a new trans filter may help on these units.

I do not know when the shift mechanisms changed to solenoid gang switches. In these types of trans some allowed for a change of a single shift solenoid without removing the trans from the truck. These used electric shift instead of using valve bodies. The connecting wires were subject to corrosion and WD40 may help.

Do not know your resources to work on this problem. A simple fluid change can be done in a quick change place. Replacing an electric solenoid takes more time but is easier done under a standing lift. Hope this helps.

Sounds like the transmission fluid is getting too viscus. Might want to check it, or replace it. I would just get the trans fluid replaced. Costs 80 dollars or can dIY for 25-30$

1992 A4LD trans problems.

Sounds like the shift kit is warn out in the transmission. The overdrive line may not be able to provide enough hydrolic pressure to engage the gears to move the truck. When you switch to regualr drive, that line is able to build the hydrolic pressure to engage the gears. At a certian speed (for the transmission, certian hydrolic pressure) there is enough pressure to engage the gears in overdrive, but go below that, and you have to start in drive again. If this is the case, there is no easy fix for that and I recomend taking it to a transmission shop to have your shift kit examined. Opening up an automatic transmission requires specalized tools, clean shop enviroment, and knowlage more then the average back yard machanic has.
