Mazda 2000 mpv does not start

My mazda 2000 MPV does not start. It makes the noise as if it wants to start but never does. When I hit the gas pedal while starting it almost sounds like it tries harder to start but doesn't. What would the symptoms be if the starter was bad? Could it be a gas system issue? I have tested my other car's battery on it and still does not start.

Couple of things it could be.

Try turning it over without touching the gas pedal. Sounds like you flooded it.

Check the coil and engine management sytem. Its probably that.

2000 MAZDA MPV TURNS OVER BUT WONT START. RAN FINE YESTERDAY. GOT IT TO START TODAY AFTER HOLDING GAS PEDAL DOWN BUT NOW ITS PUTTING OUT.

Sounds like you possibly got bad gas, or your at the bottom level of your gas tank and got the nasty stuff. Try running a good fuel treatment through the system and fill it up with premium gasoline from Marathon

Does a timing chain need to be replaced on a 2000 Mazda MPV with 112,000 miles. No problems just curious.

timing chains let you know when its time to change them as they rattle but if you do a rebuild at say 200k then obviously change the chain/tensioner

While my mazda mpv engine is on and warmed and park it would idle to 2500 rpm and stay and make a loud noise from the engine i would have to step on the gas pedal for it to go back to nornal. it would also...

sounds like your throttle cable is sticking or your choke cable spray a good lubricant on the cable where the linkage is, get someone to lightly step on the gas while you are under the hood and watch where the cable turns the linkage spray it there and see if that resolves the problem
