I hate to say it but... i recommend pulling the engine out and putting it on an engine stand. while it is out replace crank seals and inspect freeze plugs.

How do i remove an oil pan off a 1998 ford 2 wheel drive with out pulling the engine

Remove the bolt that runs thru the engines motor mounts, not the ones that attach it to the engine block. Take a 2x4 and put it on a floor jack so the jack won't damage the front pulley. Raise the engine with the floor jack to get enough clearance to manuver the pan around the steering components once thw oil pan bolts have been removed. Watch the fan blades don't hit the radiator.

2001 ford ranger oil pan gasket removal?

Remove the engine mount pin and carefully raise the engine yup as far as possible, be sure to use a large block of soft wood like pin under the pan so you won't damage it. Remove all the pan bolts, You do not have to remove the oil pan completely. With the pan lowered, remove the old gasket completely and take the new gasket and pull it around the bottom of the pan an pull it up to the engine. Basically wrap it around the oil pan. It you have the gasket that is plastic with rubber seal inserted in it, it is easier. It has clips that hold it to the pan and stays in place when lifting the pan back to the engine. Also add silicone in the corners on the front and rear bearing caps.

What is in way as far as beams when replacing oil pan gasket on ford mustang

Hi Dom, I'm not too familiar with the Mustang but as a rule of thumb I can give you this advise. Loosen off and remove the nuts from the engine mountings. Mount an engine hoist above it, and slowly raise the engine to allow room to work under it When you have enough room remove the bolts holding the pan and then slowly and carefully remove the pan. Keep in mind the=at the pan is shaped the way it is for the oil pump pickup from the lower part of the sump. If you're dealing with seven sixteenth bolts a torque of around 14NM would be good and if they are half inch, about 20NM Be acre full not to damage the new gasket when fitting back the pan and make sure the new gasket remains in the correct place. Regards John

Have a oil leak on oil pan on my f350,got the oil pan lose, but cant get the oil pan out, trans is in the way, do i loosen the trans or motor mount on engine

Remove the motor mount bolts and raise the engine slowly. Don't dent the oil pan when raising the engine! After the engine is raised, you should have enough clearance to remove the pan.

Have 1999 ford taurus front wheel drive car that transmission leaks.does not always leak but when it does it leaks a lot while driving.fill with oil and will do fine for several weeks without leaking and...

transmission oil expands when it becomes hot so and is equipped with an overflow ...as for it leaking the pan itself is noted for rusting and even a pinhole or many will cause it to leak

95 Mustang Transmission Oil

I will assume this is an automatic, if not an automatic you never change the lubricant in a manual unless it has a tear-down for repair. Lets move on, you will need to pull the trans pan off (get the car as high in the air as possible, use jack stands always, be safe not sorry), use and old plastic garbage can lid with holes drilled in it to catch the fluid, put the lid on top of a large drain pan, slowly loosen the trans bolts, fluid will start leaking very soon after they are loose, leave a few in the front just in by a few threads, remove the back bolts and let pan drop down, this will get the most fluid out, then remove pan, clean the pan and the gasket surfaces, reinstall the pan, do not over-tighten the bolts!! it will squeeze out or damage the gasket, we don't want any leaks after all this work. When it is all buttoned up add half the recommended fluid, get trans hot by running engine for 30 minutes or so, then add more fluid, leave it a little low, a 1/2 pint or so, recheck in a few days after driving while engine and trans are still hot, then top off.

78 Ford Thunderbird w/ 351 Windsor motor

You'll need to raise the engine to replace the oil pan. Take the trans./converter loose, remove the engine mounts, wiring, fuel line, and anything else that could be a problem with raising the engine. You can use 2 6 x 6's and place under the engine mounts and rest the engine on these. This should provide you with room to drop the pan.
