Where is the maf sensor for 02 Nissan Sentra 1.8

It should be located between the air filter housing and the throttle body, usually in the big air boot connecting them.

I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra that won't start. It turns over and is getting fuel and spark but won't start. What could it be?

Hello,
Often the emissions system can keep an engine from starting. The most common issue is the MAF, ( mass air flow ), sensor.

If you can locate the air intake duct, ( this is the duct work that your air filter sits in ), between the location of the filter towards the engine, right on top of the duct you should see a small device with a plug that has 4 or 5 wires. Very carefull disconnect the plug. Now try to start your engine. If it starts, you should get a new MAF.

I hope this helps you.

HOW TO INSTALL MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR

The Sentra is known to blow mass airflow sensors. If you bought an aftermarket sensor and it says to reprogram the computer you are pretty much out of luck. If it were me I would read the instructions again as it probably means that you have to disconnect the battery for five minutes and let the computer learn the new mass airflow sensor.

The mass airflow sensor, or MAF sensor, measures the amount of air flowing into the engine through the air intake. The sensor on your Nissan Sentra is located in the air intake tubing that runs from the filter to the fuel injection system. If your Sentra is idling rough, has problems starting and frequently stalls during normal driving, it is likely that the MAF sensor is failing and needs to be replaced.

jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Moderate

Things You'll Need:
  • Socket wrench and socket set Screwdrivers (Philips and slotted) New MAF sensor
Instructions
  1. Open the hood and locate the air box. It should be on the passenger side of the engine bay near the front of the vehicle. It will be a plastic, box-shaped object with a large plastic pipe running to the back of the engine.
  2. Examine the new MAF sensor. You'll be looking for this component in the air box.
  3. Remove the air box cover and pull the air filter out.
  4. Loosen the band clamps on the intake tubing with a screwdriver and pull the intake tubing off of the air box.
  5. Unplug the electrical connection to the MAF sensor and pull the MAF sensor out of the air tube assembly.
  6. Install the new mass airflow sensor and put the air box assembly back together. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Hope this help to solve your problem (remember comment and rated this).

Poor idle, power loss off idle then takes off if you give it more throttle like a quarter more pedal, engine code says bank 2 is to lean

You need a new MAF (mass air flow sensor or air flow meter as its called). and you will also need a new air filter, since you most likely used aftermarket one and that's what killed that MAF sensor/meter. Aftermarket air filters dont sit right in the box and are not oil soaked, which helps to catch any debris and dirt coming into your engine. Replace you air filter with Nissan filter and install a new MAF/air flow meter. If your air box is dirty, clean that out too. MAF sensor will run you about $500 and the air filter about $17. Common problem on a Sentra if you are not using Nissan air filter.
